Okay, It’s not the cheapest solution on the market. But I tried cheap. Only to return it. Cheap equals slow unresponsive coverage in a rural area. That’s where I live. I have two escape artists. They are very athletic and have defied all my efforts to keep them in our fenced yard. Halo actually worked surprisingly well. I set my boundaries. Started the training and haven’t lost them since. I have tracked them on long walks. I get meaningful real time feedback. What a relief. There is a learning curve for you and the dog. But there are a wealth of great videos to help. I admit at first it was a little confusing, but, with a little experimenting and trial and error it all worked out. Seems like a well made product and it works as advertised. ... show more

We had absolutely run out of patience and options with our 9 year old husky. While we were at work he had developed severe separation anxiety and would literally destroy our house while we were out. We tried medicine, diffusers, crates, pins and even THC and nothing helped. When we let him out in the yard, he would jump the fence and be GONE. We finally made the decision to try a fence. We chose to go with the Halo 5 because of the app and perceived ease of use. The collar came in and we spent about a week training our dog with the collar. He has had one escape attempt and it QUICKLY brought him back to the house. He then sat on the porch for an hour and waited for us to get home. The Halo 5 has been a complete life change for us and our Husky. We had at one time considered putting him down due to quality of life issues, but with this new collar, hopefully we have some more years left with our best boy!     • Not accurate enough to safely contain dog in suburban yard

The good: Easy instructions; High quality; Great phone interface; Easy to make a custom fence in the app; great customer service. The bad: GPS is NOT accurate enough to keep your dog contained in a regular "suburban" yard. This is not Halo's fault - but the GPS accuracy is at best 30 to 40 feet. In may case that meant the collar would beep when my lab was either in the middle of my neighbors yard (which I was trying to avoid) or still at my front door so she was terrified to go outside. Also - it only buzzed about 70% of the time and the remaining times it would not give a signal. The idea is great - but technology is not quite ready for a neighborhood yard. ... show more

This collar has been a life saver. It was incredibly easy to set up. The tutorial walked you through the process. I have 2 dogs and purchased 2 collars. You are able to customize each collar to the individual dog. The battery life lasts for several days and will alert you when it's getting too low. Very durable which is great since I have hunting dogs. The beep and whistle command is all my dogs need to stay in their area. My male dog would try to run all over the neighborhood. Now he gets to the edge, gets the alert (which you also get an alert on your phone) and he turns right back around. I am very thankful for these collars. They may seem a bit pricey at first, but they are well worth it. ... show more

    • Good quality for money and more versatile than Invisible Fence

I wouldn’t rate this as well as Invisible Fence, which I had previously, but for the price it is pretty good and much more versatile than IF in that there is gps tracking in your dog’s collar so if she does break through she will not be lost (Although she is still at risk of being hit by a car or dog-napped), and you can easily reconstruct the boundary wherever you move. Everything is contained in the collar instead of a box hardwired in your house. So yes, the collar is bulkier but well-padded, so it doesn’t appear to be uncomfortable. The battery is also recharged at night so no having to buy batteries several times each year. ... show more
