Great coop! I have backyard chickens and was looking for an appropriate hen house to keep the flock safe from weather. I have a fairly good sized run already but the chickens refused to use the shelters I have in place. Plenty big enough to hold my six, I’m not sure it would comfortably hold 8 but there are 6 brooder spaces with convenient lift up roof to collect eggs, screen covered windows for ventilation and a pull out tray for easy cleaning. Since I already have an enclosed run, I didn’t get the additional cage portion you can order with it. ... show more

    • Cute Looking. Fragile Feeling. Chickens Dislike Going Inside.

This chicken coop is...cute to look at. It seems to be made out of balsa wood. The wood is *extremely* lightweight and delicate. Be careful when handling. (We accidentally dropped a screwdriver handle on one of the wall boards during assemble and it looks like someone shot it.) The three roost bars are below the entry for the roost boxes, so my young chickens are developing bad habits...and sleeping in nesting boxes. I have four chickens and they DO NOT like going into the coop. At sundown they perch on the apex of the roof. I have to bodily go move them inside. This coop is part of temporary summer digs for my girls while we have a construction project going on. I'm looking forward to building them a sturdy, correctly formatted coop later in the summer. ... show more

Bought on april 12, apon opening boxes a very strong smell of pine sol coming from product. I second guessed myself and said well maybe once outside it will go away. Had it outside for over a week , moved it back into garage because chicks arent old enough yet to go outside. Next day open up garage and all u can smell is overwheleming pine sol smell. Almost like it was used and someone cleaned with pinesol to return it. Needless to say i did not save the 2 huge boxes it was shipped in. If i had it been going back. I refuse to put my chicks in this. Waste of time & money do yourself a favor and buy dont buy this coop ! ... show more

This coop is adorable and well built for the price. It was kind of easy to put together but I would definitely have two people to assemble it. A drill is needed to make the job go faster. The materials were packaged so well and every piece was included. The coops roof is water proof and there was even a couple of flaps to cover the eggs retrieval lids for water proofing that area. Such thought and care was given to this design and it seems sturdy and functional for the cost. ... show more

So far so good. pretty easy to put together. The material is thin as i expected it to be. don't run this without it being inside something else for predators. We put this as the house within the run. The birds enjoy it. they sit on the nest boxes outside sometimes. Roof keeps them dry. They go in by themselves every night. Recommend getting an automatic door to keep them dryer, or close/open it every night. Had a bit of a smell at first, likely the paint, but it aired off now. ... show more

Not at all sturdy. Pre-drilled holes did not match up in several areas. Within the first month, the roof was buckling. The money spent on this could have gone a long way toward a solid-built, real, coop. I gave it 2 stars only because it provided shelter until I could get a real coop built.
