I use this mainly to clean gasket material off oil pans, trans oil pans, water pumps, oil pumps that use Hondabond (gray), Toyota FIPG (black), or Threebond 1281 (red). It does an incredible job and quickly leaves bond surfaces absolutely free of oil. It literally leaves it squeaky clean when rubbed with nitrile gloves. Speaking of, if you get too much on your nitrile gloves, you may feel a tingling, burning sensation. It doesn't melt my 6 mil gloves, it just reminds me of its awesomeness. If it hits your skin, it'll start tingling soon after. This stuff is hardcore and the fumes are pretty strong. It'll make you light-headed if used in a closed garage. If your worried about it being chlorinated and melting everything non-metal it touches, don't be. I accidentally oversprayed paint, clear coat, plastic, rubber hoses, accessory belts, wire harnesses, and finished wood headboard in the garage and just wiped it off with no damage. If you're wondering how I accidentally sprayed the furniture, this is also the best wasp/hornet killer known to man. Instant death/wing-melting power. Emphasis on instant. I didn't hold back when using this stuff like I always had to before or else I'd always run out. I went through a case on three nasty, über greasy, huge jobs. I used it to clean parts, as an engine degreaser, brakes, suspension parts, struts, coil springs, garage floor spills, drain pans. Zero problems or issues. Never melted paint or rubber. 19 oz cans are awesome. I'm sure I overused the hell out of it which is why I went through it so fast. I was in a hurry to do three family members' timing belts and suspension work before the semester started. 4Runner, Highlander, and a Civic. Best brake cleaner I've ever used. No BS. I had some 3M non-chlorinated brake cleaner left over from a previous job to compare. The 3M just ran off the grease like water while the gunk cut right through it. This stuff is the real deal. It's not like the crud you get from the parts store that you sissy a whole can and go "hmm, it's still dirty". A little spray cleans oil messes right up and cuts through sludge. It's great for when your replacing gaskets, seals, or brakes. It dissolves grime right away. You need to make sure your in a well ventilated area and do not let it hit a hot engine. It can make a poisonous gas when it is combined with heat. The fumes create an extremely toxic mix, so use your common sense when using this product. ... show more

Best brake cleaner I have ever used. Only down side of the chlorinated stuff is you can't use it on plastic or rubber. Not sure what some people are talking about of a very harsh smell though. Have been using this inside an open garage without any bad smelling fumes. Any paint you can buy off the shelf will have fumes worse than this stuff in my opinion. Also your not going to find this price in a parts store you might as well buy them here for a little cheaper if you need alot. ... show more

    • Can won't spray well at an angle, 1/4 to 1/3 of the liquid is left in the can - wasted. Brakleen is far better

I bought a case of Gunk brake cleaner and I just used the last can. My pro/con is below: Pro -Cleans well Con -Cannot move the can too much from a straight up spraying position or the spray loses power -About half the cans lost spray pressure with 1/4 to 1/3 of the can left - it got thrown out, wasted -Spray pressure is uneven when the can is at an angle I far prefer Brakleen which will spray at any angle with full power and the cans fully empty unlike this Junk, I mean Gunk product. ... show more
