It felt like a betrayal of everything I'd known and loved. Nerds are a solo act, a tiny army of sour-then-sweet soldiers marching into your mouth one by one. But a cluster? That's a commune! A co-op! A cult of tiny, crunchy candy dots all stuck together by a gummy blob. I was wrong. I've never been happier to be wrong in my entire life. These things aren't just candy; they're a multisensory experience. You pop one in your mouth, and at first, it's a battle. The crunchy, jagged Nerds on the outside fight for dominance, a chaotic mix of strawberry and grape. You think you've won, that you've tamed the wild Nerds, but then you hit the soft, chewy center. It's a surrender, a delicious, sugary truce that brings the whole thing together. It's the kind of harmony you can only find in a bag of these things. My only complaint is that they're a gateway candy. I started with one, just to see. Then I had another. Soon, the entire bag was gone, and I was left staring at the empty wrapper, feeling like I'd just woken up from a fever dream. The next day, I bought two more bags.
