I’m not sure if it is fully velvet, but very cozy. We will see how it holds up against the cat. I’m 6 ft, my head goes a little over the top, BUT they provide a pillow probably for lumbar that makes up the difference for me! Ps. I bought the black velvet version

Arrived a day early, in a box I could not lift (i'm 79). Dragged the box into the small room where my computer is and assembled it there. Is a heavy well made chair for the money I paid. Not a quick build, took 20 min just to get everything out of the box; and another 70 minutes to assemble. everything fit. After 3 hrs no back pain. Only down side is the foot rest, not much good; maybe it works when fully reclined. Would buy again. Oh I forgot, my chair was the soft black velvet. Will update if necessary. ... show more

It was a breeze to put together, but I found it painfully uncomfortable after half an hour's use. Now, full disclosure: My lower back / hips were already sore from the chair I was looking to replace, but this exacerbated the issue. I was looking for a softer cushion, and this did not provide. My lesson: Do not buy chairs unseen on the internet. Go to the store where you can try them out first. (Then buy them online, preferably cheaper) :) FYI: I eventually decided on a Sharper Image S600. Twice the price, but 4x the comfort ... show more

I work from home 4 days a week. My chair was getting a little hard to sit in. This one is pretty comfy and the material appears to be well made. You get a lot. A full height, encompassing chair with good padding, a neck support and a lumbar support if you so choose. Add in, there's a foot rest integrated. I really can't use it in my scenario, but I'm sure some could. It rolls nice. There's an up/down lever and a tilt lever. The arm rests are hinged such that they stay mostly level if you tilt back. Smart setup! The instructions are very good and the parts are marked clearly and packaged nicely. Assembly was straight forward until I got to the part where I attach the back support/spine. Somehow, my part was manufactured backwards/opposite of the part in the diagram. It confused me for a bit, but I even watched their handy online assembly video to be sure. So, I sent a picture and email to their US based support. A couple of questions and pictures sent and they shipped me a replacement part. Problem solved! I don't usually mind if there's an issue with a product. It happens.. Night shift Friday night part maybe. It's all about how they handle the problem. This was handled professionally and in good time. Bravo! Overall I'm very happy with the new chair and expect to see a long future of use for it. ... show more
