  • Worked great, esp. after a software update
A great value for the price. The battery life is great, and the display is adequate. This relatively inexpensive thermal imager did what I wanted, except the manual thermal range feature was missing. Turns out my unit needed a software update. There was some back-and-forth with AccuMEMS, but everything was resolved quickly. (They’d forgotten to post the latest firmware on their download page, and the installation procedure was missing a step) Now everything is fine. A year or so ago, I tried a big competitor’s least expensive product (still twice the price of the GT14S) and that company had nerfed their software so badly that it had none of the capability of the GT14S. I am quite happy with the GT14S. I generally use the device in linear mode with the center temp readout turned on. This gives smoother video. I will admit, the manual could be better, but the operation is fairly intuitive. Once you've played around with the unit enough, the manual makes more sense. ... show more

  • Great inexpensive thermal camera
I needed something to check for hot spots in the foam insulation in my attic after I had the roof replaced as I was finding the attic temp was much higher than it was before the job was done. I found 6 spots (110 degrees at hot spots vs 85 for the foam) that needed repaired and once filled my attic temp lowered back to what it used to be. The unit worked great, even identifying heat differentials of 5-10 degrees, and was very intuitive to use, once I set the appropriate emissivity and distance I was very quickly able to identify the gaps in the foam which were small and not apparent to the naked eye. The refresh rate was slightly delayed, but I was expecting that based on other reviews and it kept up with me very well as I moved around the attic and only took 1-2 seconds to create a heat map at each new location. I did not use the camera feature as I did things in real time to identify problem areas. The insulation installer liked the unit so much he was going to pick one up too as his Bluetooth unit was cumbersome and required a monthly subscription for use. ... show more

  • Actually works pretty well!
Honestly works better than I expected. I knew it wasn’t a top of the line, but has been amazingly helpful in finding hot/cold spots. Battery life is great. I think this is perfect for around the house stuff. Also works surprisingly well as a stud finder! Might be worth it for that alone.

  • Surprisingly capable little thermal imager for the money
I am a thermal process engineer. I use thermal imagers a lot. I might not be the best thermographer in the world, but I do use thermal imaging in a professional capacity. As someone who uses thermal imaging professionally in industrial and process engineering applications, I went into this purchase with fairly low expectations. I originally bought one for my brother, who wanted something for home repair and DIY projects. Out of curiosity, I ended up trying it myself, and I have to say I'm genuinely impressed. For less than $100, this thing is remarkably usable and surprisingly pleasant to use. My FLIR can measure much higher temperatures, and my FOTRIC is significantly sharper and produces true radiometric images. But the reality is that most people don't need radiometric analysis. Most people just need to find where the heat is. For home use, automotive work, HVAC, maintenance, troubleshooting, or general curiosity, this thing is a no-brainer. I was particularly impressed by the floating maximum and minimum temperature indicators. They're simple, but incredibly useful when you're trying to quickly identify hot or cold spots. In some ways, that's more useful to the average user than many of the advanced features found on expensive professional cameras. I ended up buying another one for my dad, a retired engineer who loves his IR temperature gun. If you're on the fence, just get it. If nothing else, it's a fun little camera that helps you see the world in a completely different way. It's about the size of my FLIR TG297. Don't expect miracles or HD-quality thermal images. This is not a $2,000 instrument. But if you're trying to understand how heat is behaving and you're on a budget, it's hard to go wrong here. The thermal sensitivity is good enough that I can see footprints in carpet after someone walks across it. That's genuinely impressive for a camera at this price point. One final note: the images appear to be standard JPEGs rather than radiometric files. I examined the files and found no evidence of embedded radiometric data. If you're looking for advanced thermography workflows, report generation, or post-processing in software such as AnalyzIR, you'll want a more advanced camera. If you're looking for a practical, affordable thermal imager that actually works, this is an easy recommendation. Less than $100 for a tool this useful is honestly kind of crazy. The attached photos show it next to my FLIR TG297 and FOTRIC TK6 for size comparison. ... show more

  • Great device, but it NEEDS A CASE and a lanyard mount
I love this camera. The reason for the 4 star review instead of 5 is because it really should include a case. A mounting point for a lanyard would also be a welcome addition. Aside from those oversights, it seems very accurate and includes several visual schemes to allow the user to perform heat analysis. The ability to capture photos works nicely. All in all, Im pleased with my purchase and am enjoying the device. It is easy to use and intuitive. BUT IT REALLY NEEDS TO INCLUDE A CASE. ... show more

  • Where does he get those wonderful toys!! Great gadjet to add to your tools and has so many uses!
This is a really cool gadget! It works very well for the money and I'm super impressed by it and wish I bought one sooner! You can find all kinds of spots around your home that are poorly insulated and it even helped me with my ac evaporator coil to find a blockage. You can use this for so much in all the trades or around the home or on your vehicle. Great troubleshooting tool! You can take photos on it too which is a nice feature as it takes a screenshot. My kids even use it looking for ghosts! 🤣 I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking! ... show more

  • Cheap and it works as it should
Insane you can pick up a working thermal camera for under 100 USD. There are some bad things about it (non removable storage), but it's why it's so cheap. Great home use.
