I was initially curious about this one. It's designed to run off of 240 volts but will step down and comes with an adapter that lets i run off of 110/120. My portable two-person hot tub stopped heating yesterday, so I finally got a chance to test it. I placed it inside a small container and submerged it in the water. I plugged it in. So far so good, no breakers were tripped. It took 3 hours to raise the temperature in my 145-gallon hot tub from 96 to 103 degrees. Then I unplugged it and removed it. My only concern is that there are no lights or signals that it is on and working, except for the heated water. I will try it again today and see if this becomes a daily ritual. ... show more

  • Works as advertised if you have the right outlet. Don't get it if you only have 120V outlets.
This is one of those items that definitely has an intended target consumer, and then they go and add the adapter feature to it to make it "available" to everyone else, and it kind of "muddies the water" on the actual functionality. To be clear, just like the listing title suggests, this is intended for use with a 240V outlet. To make it more versatile, they include the step-down adapter that allows it to operate, at significantly reduced power, on a standard 120V outlet. But again, to be clear, that power-output on the 120V outlet is pretty poor compared to other available immersion heaters that are available that are designed specifically for 120V. So here's where I can see it making sense for utilizing both features: Animal water troughs in the winter. The 240V can get them heated up sufficiently that they can remain above freezing, and then you could switch the outlet to a 120V to essentially "keep" the water at the above-freezing temp for a longer period without continually heating it to a temperature that might be counterproductive to the animals who actually need to drink from it. For the rest of us, like me, this is an emergency scenario item that is probably pretty dumb for me to even have. But I have it because I have a 240v outlet in my basement that my dryer runs off. And my SHTF justification scenario for having this is a situation where my family needs to shelter in our home or basement for some reason, and the external water supply is unreliable, and I need to be able to heat up a large tub of water for the purpose of bathing. So, combine this with a collapsible bathtub and voila, you've got my use case. And since my home generator can power my 240v line, I can run this even if conventional power is out. Now, do I ever expect to have to use it in this scenario? No. But it gives me peace of mind to know it's an option. And I did actually test it out on the dryer outlet after filling up the nearby utility sink with cold water. The length of the cord was sufficient to reach, but that is another thing to consider even if you have a 240V outlet in your home... Can you plug into it and still have whatever you're heating within roughly 8 feet, because even though the cord is just shy of 10 feet long you also need to have enough length on the cord to fully submerge the 13.5-inch heating element. 8 feet may sound like a lot, but if your outlet is high on the wall, that cuts down on your actual reach, so keep that in mind. Anyhow, the starting temp of the water was 46 degrees F and the sink had about 15 gallons of water in it, and it rose to 80 degrees in less than 15 minutes. I didn't test how hot it would actually get because I was also holding the cord the entire time since my utility sink is plastic and as much as I want to trust the heat shield on this, the fact that it can heat up large quantities of water so quickly had me concerned it might melt the plastic if I just let it sit in the water pressed against the sidewall of the sink. So anyhow, yeah, it functions seemingly as advertised and it's as easy as making sure it's in the water and then plugging it in. Now, as to whether or not you should consider getting it, I think that really depends on how you intend to use it. For most people, a 120V option is probably a better idea even though it'll heat slower since it's going to be accessible to them in more locations. This immersion heater is a titanium 3000W element with a NEMA 6‑15P plug for 240V use, and its real advantage is that it also runs normally on 110V. That makes it useful for setups where you want fast heating and controlled maintenance without buying two separate heaters. I heat on 220V when I need to raise the temperature quickly. When I want to hold a steady temperature, I move it to my 110V temperature controller, which is limited to a 1200W load. Because the heater is a resistive element, it draws roughly 600W at 110V, so it stays within the controller’s rating. The heater handles the voltage change without any issues. It couldn't be easier to use. Just submerge it in water and plug it in! At full power on 240V, the heating rate matches what a 3000W element should deliver. A 30‑gallon tub climbs quickly, and the output is appropriate for small pools, stock tanks, and aquaculture systems. The titanium housing resists corrosion in saltwater, and the protective cage keeps the element from contacting the container wall. It must stay fully submerged; if the water level drops, the element will dry‑fire and fail. It’s intended for tap water and seawater only. Electrically, the requirements are simple: a 240V/15A circuit with a NEMA 6‑15R receptacle. The heater draws about 12.5A at full power. This is a flexible heater that can switch between high‑power heating and low‑power temperature maintenance without extra hardware. The build quality is excellent, and so is the price.   • Great for pools and aquaculture if you have 240V power
This immersion heater looks like a heavy-duty option when you need to warm a lot of water. The titanium element and a long 118-inch cord make it feel built for tubs, above-ground pools, or aquaculture tanks. The element is about 13.5 inches long and the product claims the 3000W unit can raise a 30 gallon tub by roughly 50 degrees F in about 30 minutes on a proper 240V circuit. There are a few important things to keep in mind. To get full power you need a 240V NEMA 6-15P outlet; an included adapter for 120V will cut output dramatically and heating becomes much slower. I like that this unit is compatible with a NEMA 6-15P 15A outlet and pairs that requirement with a 240V, 3000W design. The titanium body, full submersion setup, and anti scalding sheath make it well suited for heating seawater or tap water in tubs, pools, and fish tanks. I think the long 118 inch cord adds flexibility as extension cords shouldn't be used for safety. This is hard for me to review because it’s a seriously quality product. It’s very well-made, has very impressive instructions which are extraordinarily important and without a doubt need to be read before this unit is used. Running this heater requires an adapter (provided) to usein my household that basically renders the unit pointless. In the instructions, it clearly tells you that if you use the adapter, the power loss, and therefore the productivity of the unit is substantially diminished. All the way down to a quarter of what it would normally run if the adapter was not used. This was pointless for me and I was disappointed. ... show more
