  • Full 3kw, grounded correctly, 240V
In the US you need to understand that it requires a special outlet most US homes do not have. There are adaptors that allow it to plug into common a 120V outlet, but you'll only get half the power - if you're planning on doing that then save some money and buy the 1500W immersion heater with the standard US plug. Plugged into the correct 240V outlet it does provide a full 3kW of heating power, measured at the outlet. In my 65F pool it causes tiny bubbles to appear, so it's boiling the water. You'll need to make sure it's deep enough in the water so any steam bubbles that form will be absorbed back into the water on the way to the surface, otherwise you're losing more heat to the air. The attached cord is embossed 14awg SJTW with UL labeling so it's suitable for outdoor use, assuming connections are made in a UL approved weather enclosure. 14AWG is sufficient for 3,600W at 240V so it's the correct size for this heater. In terms of safety, the stainless steel tube is correctly grounded, however it does not come with a GFCI attached, the FCC logo is pointless as it has no electronics that operate at frequencies that would affect transmitters or receivers, and the device is NOT UL listed or certified. You use this at your own risk. In my case: 1. I will only use it when the pool is unoccupied 2. I will have a GFCI protecting it 3. I will have the correct plug, wiring and voltage to support it Check that you have a 6-15R or 6-20R outlet near your pool, or one in your home and a 240V 15A extension cord. Sometimes these are found near larger window air conditioners. There are a lot of GFCI 240VAC 15A cord replacements available for air conditioners as well, so if you're comfortable splicing the cord or making your own GFCI outlet box you can add GFCI protection relatively easily. I'd suggest the following improvements for the manufacturer: 1. Add GFCI to the cord 2. Get proper UL listing 3. Add a temperature controller Because it's not UL listed, doesn't contain a GFCI, and uses 240VAC I can't recommend it for most US users. However it doesn't make those claims, and what it does claim is true, so it gets four stars. Just be certain you understand what it is, take appropriate cautions, and it'll do exactly what it says it does. ... show more

  • Research Installation then Buy
I want to extend the seasonal use of our swimming pool. This should be a good, cheap solution. I want it to work. I cannot find the proper NEMA 6-15P 15 Amp 250 Volt external outlet on Amazon. And finding it in general is not straightforward. I'd prefer it as a GFCI outlet which I cannot find either. Because of the warning, I do not want to use a convertible extension cord which appears more readily available. I like to have things on hand to save time and money with electricians, plumbers, etc. I will continue to look at electrical and big box stores. Perhaps our electrician will be able to buy locally. If finding the electrical box is difficult, I now wonder how much the electrical installation will cost. The box itself is labeled as a "Bathtub Heater". It would have been so convenient if the seller would have included or referenced a couple of specific, compatible outlets. My project is temporarily flumoxed by a simple outlet. ... show more

  • great product
This is awesome. Our pool is a bit big for it to truly heat all the water all the way through but it takes enough of the chill out that getting into the pool is much easier. Works great in the tub too! Simple to use and highly effective. Good product

  • Do not get in water with this submerged!
This will officially be the most serious review I've ever created in 2years. Please for your safety do not get in the water with this plugged into the body of water your entering as another reviewer suggested and actually did! It states in their directions to unplug and remove! Now the second elephant in the reviews that nobody has really spoken about is the need for a 6-15 outlet to power this 240v 3000w element! The only plugs we have of those in our home supply power to our water heater and possibly our dryer (I haven't checked yet behind there). Now in saying this I question the validity of the current reviews because who just happens to have these plugs available in their bathroom or by the pool? I was initially super excited about getting this to use when I'm traveling in my camper and set up my portable Japanese soaking tub (sounds dope right?) Well so far I've spoken to a few home builders and we haven't currently figured out how to create a portable 240v power supply to provide the 3000w necessary for this device. I've watched YouTube videos on building out a portable power inverter but still the 6-15 plug/240v/3000w combo of demands creates a complex build that doesn't seem cheap or easy so far. I'll be going to a licensed electrician to seek counsel on this topic and if it's worth building a portable power source. I'll also touch on the topic of if running a whole new conduit/breaker and plug is necessary or worth it to even use this. This company does state in their photos and content you need to have a 6-15 nema plug so I'm not taking the stars off about that. It's just the necessary money investment to even use this after paying the very reasonable price for the product. It's like buying a hot water heater element without the machine that runs it lol. Now however I have gotten a 1500w version that only requires 110v to run by this same company which also comes with a temperature control panel on the power supply cord so I'm super excited to try this out soon! That ones simply plug and play! Drop it like it's hot! I'll be back with any updates after talking to certified electricians. ... show more
