I was so impressed with this that I had to write a review. I needed something to clear walks and around my car for where the plow company can’t get. I was skeptical that this would be powerful enough. I saw some reviews from other Lake Effect Snow belt areas and it made me try it. I can say with confidence it easily clears ~4 inches of lake effect snow from Lake Ontario with ease. It’s so powerful that it throws the snow over the yard and into the street. You can easily do your entire driveway with ~4 inches. I’ve not had to bring out my heavy gas snowblower once. You can’t expect to do a huge storm all at once, but if you’re someone that clears once or twice during a storm, you’ll have no issue. The light is nice. The only cons are that it’s a little heavy at first until you get a plan for using it AND that you don’t have directional output control. I’ve been able to mitigate the blowing by altering the speed in either direction from 1 to 2 and changing my pattern I clear in. In all I wish I bought this ages ago. Multiple neighbors have bought this same unit since me. If it can handle NY lake Effect Snow, it can likely handle what you are throwing at it.

Product works as advertised. Does a great job in clearing snow. Has good power to clean about 6 inches in one pass. However the cons are...it is heavy, the battery life on continuous running is about 25 mins. In icy conditions battery got stuck and need hair dryer to loosen it. You also need to bend a bit while shoveling. Doing snow cleaning during the storm in PA.

This is a powerful snow shovel. The battery is huge and charges within 60 minutes. It is heavy- 20lbs. It is to heavy for my arthritic hands, but it works great for my husband. We have an 8 car drive and the battery lasts through multiple shoveling. I wish it had a directional vane on it. The noise level is very quiet. It does not work well if you have lots of leaves under your snow. It can get clogged, but it very easy to clear the clog. Overall it has been a great investment for us. I also love that I can charge my battery when we know snow is coming and it is ready to use. Plus we don’t have to worry about maintenance on the machine to store in the off season.

I’m rating this 1 star for now, though I am willing to adjust this if customer support reaches out. I was a huge fan of my previous Greenworks shovel, but this 80V model has been a letdown. While the horsepower is there, the design lacks the wheels of the older version, making it significantly heavier and difficult for my wife to maneuver. More importantly, after just one use, the battery will no longer charge and the charger is flashing red. I’ve attempted troubleshooting to no avail. As it stands, the tool is useless. I’m looking for a resolution or a return.

This product does what it is advertised to do. It just easily cleared several inches of snow off my driveway in about half an hour, and the battery lost little of its charge. The problem with it is that it's just too darn heavy. Maybe that's not a problem if you're six feet tall and muscled like a professional athlete. But I'm 5'4", 150 lbs. and I was exhausted by the end. I originally thought it might make a good option to use instead of my full sized snowblower when there was less than a foot of snow. But now I see its best use will be to make a path to the shed and clear out the snow in front of the doors so that I can get to the regular snowblower. It's a powerful product, just not that easy to use.

Dec 2025 I live in Minnesota, we get snow. I purchased this snow shovel because I'm in my mid 70's and shoveling my two 8 x 16 decks by hand is getting harder for me. I've had high expectations for this snow shovel as it was rated as the #1 pick on Consumer reports. I'm not disappointed. Today we are expecting up to 15" of heavy wet snow. I went out with the snow shovel for the first time today and did both of my decks. We've gotten about 4 inches so far. It really did a nice job of getting right down to the deck boards and clearing the snow. I am so impressed as this was really heavy wet snow. I am surprised at so many of the poor reviews BUT I can understand why. This snow shovel doesn't have the ability to direct the snow. It's straight forward period. If I were doing a big driveway I don't think I'd be very impressed since it is lacking the ability of directing the snow left or right. For my purpose of blowing off my decks I didn't need this feature. This snow shovel is it is a bit heavy. I can handle heavy so this isn't an issue for me. Some people may have an issue with lifting or pushing the 17-20 pounds that it weighs. Overall, this is absolutely perfect for me.

Let me start by saying we absolutely love Greenworks products. We thought it was a great value for the money, and we thought we could use the battery on our other Green Works products. The battery cannot be used on or in other Green Works products that we have. The snow shovel blows powerfully. We had our first January snow yesterday, it was light and fluffy. This snow is the perfect snow to test out the snow shovel. I went out today to shovel with it it blew powerfully. So I would highly recommend it for a young or a very strong person. However me and my husband found it to be too heavy for us. I think the manufacturer needs to put some type of Wheels or some other structure on it to support the weight. I couldn't even manage to use it for 5 and neither could my husband. I will be returning it.

Really moves snow in tight spaces. I brought this as I have many greenworks products so did not need another battery. I thought it would be good for sidewalks. It is, but it is great for my back deck. I used to shovel the deck and would end up with large piles of snow on the yard right below the deck, which caused snow mold on those sections of the lawn. This has solved that issue as it throws the snow a good 20 to 30 feet off the deck! It is heavy, but think it has to be to get the snow thrown. I have found just dragging it backwards helps make it easier. Very pleased with the performance and results overall.
