  • Received new saw under warranty
Size: 14" (Tool Only)
I really like this saw...yes it does leak when not in use..then the chain fell off and could not re-tighten. The customer service is in Canada...I called the customer service number in the manual(try to call when they first open or you will be on hold forever)..first person I spoke with tried to send me to repair shop...none in my area...then he wanted me to send pictures...did that..then he claimed never received...waited a few days..called back with my reference number...informed the rep that the saw is still under warranty and I should not have to go through this....she apologized and sent me a new saw(no new battery...did not have to return old one). ... show more

  • Just the right size!
Size: 14" (Tool Only)
I bought this to manage some trees in my back yard and ended up trimming all the limbs off of 16 75' Douglas Fir trees starting from 6' down in a single afternoon! The limbs were of varying sizes from 2" to 11" in diameter and I did it all on one charge. After recharging I cut them all up the following day. Great little saw. A+ ... show more

  • Exactly what I expected
Size: 14" (Tool Only)
Removed some small trees and pruned back some branches. Battery lasted through cutting up two 20’ trees 8” trunks then I put it in my blower to clean up. The saw cut with ease. Feel like I could have done a much larger tree without issues. I wouldn’t use it as a professional tree faller, but for a home owner and the amount of times I’m going to use it, it’s perfect. ... show more

  • Documentation and Customer Service Stinks
Size: 14" (Tool Only)
I gave this a 1 star to call attention to the outrageously poor documentation and then the lack of interest by support in fixing the problem. The saw itself does work well, once you get all the operational issues straightened out. It's a doorstop otherwise. The primary deficiency is that, in the saw features and on the box there is something called a chain brake. I suppose to chain saw experts this means something. I'm not one. Reading the instructions, the diagram labeling the parts calls this part "Guard". Nowhere in the manual is this Guard discussed. However, in the Troubleshooting section, there is mention of a chain brake. It is listed as a solution to the issue "Chainsaw does not start." To make a long story short, my chain saw wouldn't start and the reason turned out to be that I had unknowingly pushed the Guard = Chain Brake to the locked position. So: the second handle on the top of the saw is not to protect your knuckles, it is to lock the saw so it won't start under any condition. It is a switch: push it forward to lock, pull it back to unlock. When I called Greenworks customer service, the first thing he mentioned when I said my saw wouldn't start and my batteries were fully charge was something about the chain brake. I didn't recognize the term. It took a couple of minutes before he would accept that I didn't know what he was talking about. From then it was easy to fix the problem and return the saw to functional from its doorstop state. I requested that the manual be fixed to include a full description of the chain brake and its operation. It should be name chain brake instead of guard and the operating instructions should clearly state how to use the chain brake. He had no interest in what I was saying and the phone went dead. Oh, in addition to the chain brake issue, there is a cover on the chain oil reservoir that has moving parts. There is no explanation anywhere on what this is for. Reading the other critical reviews, the primary criticism is that the chain saw oil leaks. My saw does not leak. So, maybe the problem is fixed with this new cap??? ... show more

  • my second 14" 40v Greenworks chainsaw
Size: 14" (Tool Only)
The oil tank on my first one deteriorated to the point it would not hold oil so I needed a new saw. Due to cost I purchased the same saw without the charger or battery so I could just use my old batteries and charger. The new saw, visibly identical to my old one is a cheap Chinese knock off and I'm not very pleased with it. Its a totally different saw. I would not recommend to anyone to purchase one of these saws. ... show more
