  • So much better than expected
Size: 16''Chainsaw Tool only
Much could be said....even more highlighted. But it's this simple. This is a great product. Before I purchased and used this Saw I considered electric Chain Saws as being something you used because you had to. My 10" Ryobi Pole Saw and Chain Saw both "cut" in the basic sense, but I was satisfied only with the Pole Saw because it could reach limbs I couldn't otherwise. Because of Beaver Damage to 6- 30' to 40'+ Pine Trees ranging from 12" to 16" in diameter, I had enough work to do to be depressing. I ordered the Greenworks 16"er and a spare 6 Amp Battery and entered the fray with barely hopeful expectations. 2 Days and approximately 3 hours of actual cutting time and I have a 20' high pile of Lumber and Limbs! I am amazed how well the Saw (...and chain...) slid right through the semi-Dead, sometimes resin filled Pine. Yes, I had to learn to slightly re-tighten the Chain after "each tree", but both Limbs and the Bole of each tree fell victim to my efforts with no real issues at all! I could never have imagined a Electric Chain Saw repeatedly cutting up a 16" Tree's entire trunk into manageable 20" lengths. and still having enough juice left in one charge to cut up the limbs into 6' to 8' lengths as well. The Chain seemed just as sharp after 5 Trees as it did out of the Box. The 3-4 times the Chain came off were no problem. 3-4 minutes and it was back on and work resumed. Only a very few time on the 16" Trees did the Saw ever bog down, and I can say that was only because I simply gave it too much of a load. Just by stepping back and treating it with respect it would finish every heavy cut with relative ease. With normal pressure it simply chewed it's way right through the wood. I just never encountered the issues some have expressed. Battery use / time was better than expected even when using the Saw at it's limits. The Oiler worked just right, keeping the chain cool and tight. The Saw never overheated....and honestly after all the work was done and the Saw wiped down, it almost looked like new and you could slice a fingertip on the teeth. Come next spring I will have the opportunity to use it on some Oak Limbs, and I have about 20 Crepe Myrtle Trees to cut down between now and then. Both are much harder wood than Pine, but noting will be more than 6" in diameter so I expect no problems. I will follow up this review with some photos of the work (...the 6 Stumps, Logs pieces, and the ginormous Wood Pile...) so as to show the proof is in the doing. This Saw only cost me a Total of $200.00 including the spare Battery, so it won't take getting much more work out of it to justify that expenditure. Get one and see for yourself. I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • The Greenworks 40v 16-inch Cordless Chainsaw is a real tool
Size: 16''Chainsaw(4.0Ah)
I bought this chainsaw to cut up a large Bradford pear section that a wind gust from hurricane Ian took down. Am 75 years of age and not looking forward to the cleanup. I do have a 16-inch Sthil that was a great working saw when bought a few years ago. However, the last couple of times I used it the saw was hard to start and didn't want to keep running. Seems I was pulling the rope more than cutting. Thought about taking it to the fix it place and get it worked on or buy a new one. But still would have to mix gas and oil and pull on the rope till it decided to start. If one doesn't use a 2-cycle motor often it can be finicky. I changed from 2 cycle weed trimmers to battery operated one's years ago for that reason. Decided to check Amazon and see what was available. Saw the Greenworks 40v 16-inch cordless and read the great reviews it had received. Decided to order it. If it doesn't live up to expectations can always send it back. Love that about Amazon. It arrived a day early. Unboxed it and charged the battery. It took 90 minutes to charge. I took it out this morning, put chain oil in it and fired it up. Let it run a minute to make sure the chain is getting lube. Wait, I missed pulling on that rope several times...not. Push the power button, push in the lock out button, and pull the trigger, you don't have to hold the lock out button in after it starts running, and I'm making wood chips. Dang, I can get used to that. My first real cut, after cut some small branches so I could get to it, was a crosscut at the broken off end of the tree. First Picture, 19 inches across. Maybe the Sthil could have cut through it a tad faster, but the Greenworks did it in right good time with lots of big ole wood chips being made. I was impressed. I figured if it could cut through a log this size that easily, it is a keeper. I continued removing branches and limbs on left side of the blow down. Cut some branches, put saw down, it shuts down when I take finger off trigger, clear out the stuff I cut, pile it up, pick up chainsaw, turn it on. Then repeat again and again and again. Not once did I have to pull a rope to get it to start. That was so nice. That process continued till I needed a break for the day. I have no idea how long the saw actually ran, but I do know I ran out of juice before it did. Was thinking about buying a second battery but if one battery outlasts me.... What's the point??? FYI...just checked the battery, it is fully charged in 1 hour 15 minutes. It had one light on the charge indicator when I put it on the charger. In addition, it used 1/2 tank of chain oil for what running it did. Am very happy with this Greenworks chainsaw. I am even happier that pulling a rope and mixing gas and oil is a thing of the past for me. Time will tell how it holds up. I would recommend this chainsaw to anyone ... show more
