  • Lightweight, Efficient, and Perfect as a Tool-Only Option
Size: 15" Trimmer (Tool Only)
This string trimmer has been a great addition to my Greenworks lineup. It’s lightweight and easy to maneuver, which makes a noticeable difference when trimming around fences, landscaping, and edges for extended periods. The TorqDrive motor provides solid cutting power without feeling underpowered, and it handles normal yard maintenance without bogging down. I already own several Greenworks 40V tools and batteries, so the tool-only option was exactly what I wanted. There was no need to pay for another battery or charger, and it integrates seamlessly with the rest of my setup. If you’re already invested in the Greenworks 40V platform and want a dependable, lightweight trimmer, this is a smart choice. I’ve been very pleased with its performance. ... show more

  • Great Trimmer for Large Weeds
Size: 14" Trimmer (Tool Only)
I purchased this string trimmer to add to my 40V Greenworks set, for maintaining about 3 acres of grass, wetland, and woods. It runs for 30+ minutes on a 4.0Ah battery, while I go through through tall grass and thick weeds at full throttle. The adjustable trigger throttle is a nice feature if you don't need to attack an area at full speed. However, whenever you let all the way off of the throttle, you have to give it a couple of seconds to run at a low speed before it spins up. I would guess that is a safety feature. Once the trimmer is up to speed (2-3 seconds) it goes right through tall weeds like they aren't even there. Be sure to wear safety glasses and avoid poison ivy as it will throw debris EVERYWHERE. The trimmer is nicely balanced and does not wear you out quickly. It has plenty of power with the 40v motor and the .080 dual feed string to eat right through tall, thick weeds. The only issue I have with it is tall grass. I have only tried it with the round line that comes with it, maybe a more aggressive line would help some. If you try to move too quickly into the tall grass, it will wrap the grass up in the head and you have to stop and pull the grass out before restarting. Not difficult, just annoying. In shorter grass (trimming after mowing) or going through weeds, this trimmer does EXTREMELY well. Bottom line: If you will mainly use this for cutting through 1-2 foot tall grass, it will be slow going. You may want to get a trimmer that has a replaceable head. If you are going through thick weeds or trimming medium length grass after mowing, this is a great trimmer and you will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Little Beast!
Size: 14" Trimmer (2.0Ah)
I did extensive research on battery powered electric string trimmers. Really all lawn and garden equipment in general. I am disabled living alone on a 1/2 acre piece of property, so I was looking for something powerful yet lightweight. I decided to spend a little more on Greenworks, and I am so not disappointed. This trimmer rand through grass and tall weeds that were way past the knee. It even took out thistle and really nasty brambles. This thing is powetful and easy to use. Very user friendly. I also love the fact that it can be made into a 16 inch trimmer by turning the cut off for the trimmer line. The only reason for 4 stars is the battery life. It would only run for 20 to 30 minutes after full charge, and takes a few hours to be at full charge again. Bare in mind, this little machine was really working during those minutes. I will be investing in more Greenworks products ASAP, and as my budget allows. Great product. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Amazon tookcare of everything! Amazon tookcare of everything!
Size: 15" Trimmer (2.0Ah)
Works fine util 3 weeks later when I TRIED to put new trim line into the trimmer head assembly. Followed the instructions but I have severe trouble turning the knob to wind the string. Very difficult to turn. Even tried turning the knob with large slip joint pliers. No way a normal person could rotate the knob...The big problem is that I have passed the Amazon return date, so I guess I have a $160 paperweight. Update: Emailed Amazon and they took care of everything ! That's why I buy Everything at Amazon!!! ... show more

  • Fantastic tool (17" dual line)
Size: 17" Trimmer (8.0Ah)
Since Amazon seems to be merging product reviews, this is for the 40V 17" dual .105 line trimmer. I also own the 13" single line trimmer, which is also a great tool, but not sufficient for my [atypical] needs. I bought the 17" to replace the 13" because I had to stop every 20/30 feet and use it's centrifugal feed to advance the line. That was just fine in my previous city sized lot, but was killing me on my current 2 lot. I typically have to do 600-800 feet of trimming, and occasionally need to 'trim' 1000 foot of street because there is no curb. Not bragging, just clarifying that my situation is not normal so I needed a trimmer with a more commercial capability. With the 17" trimmer: - Between the heavier line, the double line, and the feed system, I essentially never run out of string. - Given the excellent power level, I can walk at almost a normal pace and have no issues with knocking down what needs to be knocked down. - This trimmer is much smoother, which I assume is due to the balance of having 2 lines. The 13 inch trimmer would number my hands after the 10 or 15 minutes to do both sides of the fence. I am in the 40V system, and this tool has plenty of power. In fact, this is a 'wear boots and jeans' tool (and ideally face protection) because it throws all kinds of stuff around at speed. I would be leery of using it within 20 or 30 feet of any windows, making it less suitable for city lots. So: this is a fantastic tool... if you need this level of capability. The 13 inch serves well for the typical 30 feet of sidewalk and driveway (and costs much less.) The 17" saves me ~10 minutes a week, and a lot of frustration with stop/starting. In fact, I trim stuff that I used to just let go most weeks because it's so easy to do a bit more work, which make me happy. Adding string is quite a bit easier on the 17", once you get it figured out. (It's not tough, I just didn't read the manual initially...) I would recommend unspooling and respooling the line that comes with the item. That applies to the 13" and the 17", and probably all of them. They come a mess from the factory, which causes the string to jam and fail to feed. It's easier (super easy with this one) to respool the line once, rather than unjam the thing repeatedly. ... show more

  • This tries to reinvent the wheel and includes a useless tool that you don't need
Size: 15" Trimmer (Tool Only)
Given it one star because I had a 40 volt and the cheap little automatic advancing head never worked right and quit working completely and I couldn't take it off and replace it so I had to buy another one. But also I haven't used it yet but comes with an allen wrench taped to the underside of the black plastic guard which by the way it seems to be made of out of cheap plastic that probably will shatter with impact keep it like stuffed toys are made of. And there's an allen wrench that fits nothing not even the two Phillips head screws that screw on the guard to the bottom of the motor! And then it's got a handle you got to install and that's also Phillips head not allen wrench. Then it's got like two triggers mounted sideways in the motor and the battery which is long and heavy Mount sideways I think will cause it to be imbalanced because the whole orientation of the back end where the battery mounts should be vertical like the old one not sideways I think for weight distribution cuz you don't want it twerking in your hand with the weight but why two why two triggers I can't wait to find out what that bs represents besides just changing stuff to change stuff like reinventing the wheel. ... show more

  • Bought the entry-level one first, don't. Buy this one first
Size: 15" Trimmer (Tool Only)
I unfortunately bought the entry level 40 greenworks string trimmer and the feed system was unworkable, just trash. I hacked it up and put a more standard line feeder head on it and life was good, but... it could not handle that extra weight and it failed within 1 year. This would have been the same price as that plus the money I spent on the replacement head. But this has more power and is brushless so it actually extended my runtime. The buml feed actually works like it is supposed to and doesn't make me cuss and think dark thought. This is the one you buy first and always. Better power, trim radius, run time on the same battery vs the brushed model, better bump feeder and you won't be locked into buying pre loaded spools with cheap line, now I can buy my line shape and actually control the dispensing with accuracy like a good quality bump feed, and reloading seems easy enough too. ... show more

  • Heavy grass trimmer
Size: 15" Trimmer (Tool Only)
This grass trimmer is okay. The battery is decent and lasts long, but the trimmer feels heavy and tough to lift. I hurt my wrist tendon while using it, so wrist support is a good idea. It’s also hard to align when cutting and a bit tricky to pull out the string. Overall an okay tool, but it could be better. ... show more
