  • 5 years still works good.
Size: 13" Trimmer (Tool Only)
5 years still works fine, although the so-called auto line feeder doesn't work anymore you have to manually press a small button on the side of the spool a couple times and pull the line out to what length you want literally takes 10 seconds.

  • Going Green! 40V Twin Force 20-Inch Mower, 390CFM Cordless Blower, and 13-Inch Cordless String trimmer.
Size: 13" Trimmer (Tool Only)
Going Green! 40V Twin Force 20-Inch Mower, 390CFM Cordless Blower, and 13-Inch Cordless String trimmer. I have to say I was skeptical when I decided to purchase these GreenWorks tools. However, I have to say I am very happy with my purchases and very impressed with the quality of the equipment. All three pieces of equipment were very easy to assemble; I did not need to use the instructions that came with the equipment. There are some things to understand about these three pieces of equipment. Compared to gas powered equipment mower, blower, trimmer are all very very light. The lack of significant weight can be misleading and interpreted as a lack of power, however, this is untrue as all three pieces of equipment perform just as well as any gas-powered equipment that I have used. Pros and cons The pros to all three pieces of equipment do not very significantly. All three pieces of equipment are light, easy to maneuver, and appear to be very sturdy. The mower mulches grass significantly better than most of the gas-powered mowers I have used. I noticed a significant reduction in loose grass that was clumped and blown all over the sidewalk and driveway. One feature I particularly liked was the ability to start and stop almost instantly. This came in handy especially with the blower when needing to change direction. Finally, one of the pros is that the equipment is less intimidating than gas powered equipment. My wife ran the mower and the blower with ease considering this was the first time she ever cut grass. My mother came with two batteries and a charger while the blower came with one battery and one charger. This combination gave me one four-amp battery and two two-amp batteries. I have a small yard but the four-amp battery and one two-amp battery was more than enough to cut my grass, in fact the four-amp battery was completely used and the two-amp battery only used one green dot. The trimmer is as nice as any gas-powered trimmer I have owned. I especially like the edging feature, which works very nice. I cannot find too many cons to any of the equipment. Certainly, it takes time to learn how to work with new equipment however, none of the GreenWorks equipment appears to be overly complicated. I did read some negative reviews of the string trimmer. Understanding that you have to release the throttle and wait for the spool to click which indicates an advancement of the line is a key to understanding how to operate the trimmer. I find the included trimmer line is somewhat light and I will change it out once I use it all. Recommendation I would recommend this equipment anybody who desires equipment that is easier to work with and wants to move away from using gasoline. I would eventually like to try the snow blower especially here in Pennsylvania during one of our typical winters. In closing I will say this if you are on the fence go ahead and go green you will not be sorry. ... show more

  • Will sell to someone most likely
Size: 13" Trimmer (Tool Only)
I bought this to replace the 12" model from 2020. That model, I had modified to be more similar to an old B&D that I had. The B&D had a simple slide coupling on the shaft by the head that allowed you to rotate the head for edging, something I missed on the Greenworks 12" trimmer. My resolution, disassemble the shaft connector on the trimmer, drill a 2nd hole for the locking pop-up. This allowed me to "simply" loosen the wingnut on the coupling, push in the pop-up and rotate the head. Not great, but honestly worked great. When the 13" Greenworks trimmer / edger came out, I said I would give it a try. I read many many review, many bad, yet still bought it to see if I would like it. Note that I have not used for any longer than 5 minutes yet, so I will update after a long use. Observations I have made so far: 1. Heavier than the 12" though it is quite shorter. Note the descriptions say otherwise, yet if feels heavier to me. I believe that this is a balance issue. I am about 6' tall and find it uncomfortable to hold. With the forward grip as far forward as the coupling, when held at the grip, the trimmer was vertical. My old 12" is nearly horizontal with the same test. 2. The Trimmer is single line, meaning only 1 line is out and cutting vs 2 on the 12" 3. The spool cover is very difficult to remove compared to the 12". Not sure if it is "newness", but I almost opted to grab a tool of some sort to remove it. 4. The battery is on top of the handle portion, such that it is right where your forearm / elbow want to be. This is the biggest deal breaker for me. On the 12", the battery went in the back like this one, yet it went straight back. On this one, it sticks up, forcing you to bend your arm to hold it. After 45 minutes of use my arm / elbow / wrist were quite sore. See the attached pic. 5. It takes thinner string than the 13". I did not notice this on the spec when I purchased, not really concerned, but it should be noted. The 13" takes .0625" dia line. I found that this line broke much quicker during edging. I found myself constantly advancing string. 6. There is a wheel on the guard for edging. Great idea, however, the distance from the wheel to the guard is about 1-1.5". As a result, if you have thicker lawn, the guard is going to get caught on the grass. I used the wheel about 10% of the time, found it more trouble than it's worth. 7. The change from trimming to edging is easy, that part they got right. 8. I found the spool cover very difficult to remove. It appears that the holes for the push in tabs are further down the spool than on the 12" such that they are close the hub and you can not get good leverage to push them in. I did this 5 times and nearly went to get a tool to have handy for the next time. I ran this for about 45 minutes, maybe 5 minutes trimming, rest edging. I really wanted to like it, but that is not the case. One comment others made was about the string not coming out of the hole. I had to remove the cover and reroute the string 4 times. I found the issue to be the factory wound string was too tight. My takeaway from this trimmer is that they had a lot of ideas and slapped them on it without proper evaluation. Some of the quirks I could over look, but the battery placement / orientation was the deal breaker for me. Since I paid about 55 for this, I will either sell it or possibly see if I can gut it and use it the articulating head with my 12". Speaking of the 12" , after running the 13" for 45 minutes, I used my 12" for some trimming I forgot about. It was so comfortable. ... show more

  • Not thrilled....and Im a second time buyer.
Size: 13" Trimmer (Tool Only)
I bought my first weed-whacker from this company in 2016. I loved it. 2025 came and my old whacker needed to be retired, (normal wear and tear over 9 years.....it still works and I gave it to a buddy of mine who had no whacker) so I figured Id stick with this company and purchase a new one. I did. First off, the throttle switch doesnt engage instantly like the old one did....it takes a second, and a full squeeze, to get it running at full power. If you lay off of the throttle lever even a little bit the whacker barely runs. My old model was always full power whenever I barely squeezed the throttle. That issue aside, the whacker still works pretty much like my old one did (despite a little less giddy-up). My MAIN problem though is with the GARBAGE line spools that greenworks sells. This line breaks (and you have to manually extend the line when it breaks) about every 2-3 minutes. In short, the machine itself is OK....just not as good as the old one was....but the cheap line is the worst. Buy the tool, but find a more durable line spool. ... show more
