We ordered 2 of these mats. While this mat is very good for rolling and protecting the carpet they have both cracked in less than 3 months. One has cracked in 5 places and the other has 1 crack in it. Product description states the following, "Won’t Bend or Crack: this European made design is incredibly durable and meant to last for years; at over 3 millimeters thick, it won’t bend or curl over time and will resist scratching, ripping, and breaking; because of the high standards put in place, the mat is extremely solid and is not prone to leaving divots from chair wheels", but as you can see the Won't Crack part is obviously incorrect.     • Be VERY CAREFUL opening the box!!
11-10-21: Update: Fixed the slight problem of the chair rolling around too much by putting little black "footie" socks on 3 of the wheels and securing them with a hair scrunchie lol! Works great and you can't even notice it. Mat is holding up fine! No issues... other than the packaging as noted below in original review: The info from the company indicates the mat is ALWAYS shipped flat. That was one reason I ordered it, but apparenly (from the reviews) some arrive flat and some don't. When I saw the shape of the box , I knew mine was NOT flat. THANK God I read the reviews and knew to be VERY careful opening the box. I taped a knife to a roll of wrapping paper (that's what I had handy) so I could cut the tape off the box from a distance. Problem is, when they bend this mat into a box, the mat REALLY wants to lay flat. It pushes with A LOT of force against the box. As I cut... suddenly... POW! One side of the mat burst out of the box (like a jack-in-the-box)! Had I been standing over the box (as you normally would to cut a package open) it surely would have hit me in the face with a lot of force! Plus I ordered the mat made for carpet so it has hundreds of sharp spikes on one side. I read the reviews before purchasing and saw some people were injured in this way, but I was worried about the people who won't see the reviews, so I contacted Amazon and advised them this item should ONLY be shipped flat! It is REALLY dangerous to bend it into a box. Hopefully, they make the change. As for the mat itself, it is much heavier than the first mat I ordered and returned. This mat cost twice as much, but it is heavy and my chair does not sink into the carpet... also it does lay flat as soon as you lay it down (despite being bent to fit in the box). I just received it, so can't say yet if it will hold up over time. Mine doesn't slide around as some people mentioned, but my main issue is - my chair won't budge on the carpet, but on this mat it moves around TOO much. Will probably have to put a thin carpet over the mat... maybe I should have just bought a chair without wheels, lol because this mat is a hassle. ... show more

The mat looks really nice. The chair rolls smoothly on it. It was great until it cracked. The crack itself is pretty sharp. I know that because I cut my foot on it. Granted, I was barefoot. We bought the mat in August 2022 and it broke in March 2023, so it lasted less than year. That seems a bit too short considering that the mat we had before lasted 5 years without any cracks, it just started to look stained. The mat is on a short-pile looped carpet, but it slides. We tried it on hardwood floors as well and it did not work there at all; it was way too slippery. Maybe this will work better on a high-pile carpet, but I would think that it would break there as well because there is not sufficient resistance. I am using a regular office chair with 5 casters, so the pressure is equally distributed. Maybe this one is just a lemon. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. UPDATE 20200629: This mat is still going strong. PROS: * STILL WORKS great. I use it daily (I WFH 100% and am a PC gamer). * STILL LOOKS GREAT. There is no apparent sign of additional wear on this thing. No additional scuffs, no scratches, and certainly not any cracks. The fourth picture showing just two casters from my desk chair is an updated picture with light shining on it to show wear. CONS: * It does travel a little bit. This doesn't bother me. My mouse pad travels more than this mat does. But it bothers some people. I have to adjusted it by an inch or so every week which is fine since I have to vacuum anyway. I've read some reviews by others and am perplexed. If yours doesn't come shipped flat, I would return it. There is no way mine could be rolled up, folded, or handled like that. And I wouldn't expect it to based on what is advertised. If yours cracks, your carpet pile may be too high, too heavy of weigh being applied, or maybe the incorrect item was shipped. Make sure the labels are correct and if it doesn't look right upon delivery contact the seller. I did NOT have to do this for this item, but I have for other purchases. Somestimes mistakes are made, but sellers (or Amazon, if fulfilled by them) usually do their best to make it right. I've owned many mats in my day, and this really takes the cake. I still highly recommend this mat. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love these mats. I purchased two because I forgot to have wood floors put into my office when we designed our new home. As a result, I have a lovely and comfy carpet throughout my office that I was afraid to ruin with constant movement/rocking of my office chair. These mats not only are sturdy (they come shipped FLAT inside FLATTENED out large Amazon boxes), they are also remarkably transparent. You can see the studs at any angle, and you can see reflections of objects from some angles, but what is that you can also see the carpet beneath quite clearly! But for the (necessary) studs, you might not even notice them there. I work from home and have been rolling all over these babies. I notice only a shadow of give to the casters as I roll. The mats do seem to travel slightly, but I think it is because I set them down when the carpet was fluffy. I noticed some reviews complaining about scuffs. Mine did come with a few scuffs. But honestly, I expected them. Go to ANY office supply store and check out how these mats are stored. The studs are abrasive and I'm not surprised that mine would have a scuff or two - and that is all mine have, a scuff or two. I definitely recommend them as they do appear to warrant the durability/quality we expect from the moniker "gorilla." Finally, the sticker/label: it came right off! I recorded me peeling off the label from both mats since I specifically remember people complaining about it. Just be gentle when first picking out the edge and once you have a grip, gently pull in the opposite direction. ... show more
