I got this for a 250lb wheelchair. Sadly it doesn't work for our chair without help. We have had to find an additional small ramp so we can get it up onto the rack. It works, but I think that even though it is supposed to take up to 500lbs, the 250lb chair causes it to tilt back away from my vehicle. I still use it and it certainly seems to be well built, but I will have to get something better in the future.

Not what I expected
Style: Fully Foldable
This installation was not the simple assembly the rating made. I installed this on a Santa Cruz, and the weight alone made the whole assembly sag at the far end and shook more than should be allowed, as the pins shook in the holes.

The assembly diagram in the back of the manual was almost impossible to read. The print was tiny & faded. Once Customer Service emailed me a larger diagram with better print, putting the carrier together was simple. It would have been better to have a table on which to assemble the carrier, but I had to use the garage floor. Because of its weight it is best to have two people.

It’s Lightweight, Yet Durable and Functional!

I purchased this for my sister to transport her mobility scooter. It’s lightweight so that she can lift or let down the ramp by herself. Being able to transport the scooter is almost as important as having the scooter itself. My sister is enjoying much more independence…thanks to this scooter carrier.

Completely defective for all Front Wheel Drive Power Chairs & VERY Unsafe!!!

There are fournvery significant problems with this hitch mount carrier for electric power chairs: 1. It is impossible to drive a front wheel drive powers chair, such as the Permobil F3, up the ramp. The small stabilizer wheels permanently attached to the power chair (see the picture above) impede the ability to drive the chair up the ramp. The only way I managed to do so, is because I bought a heavy duty $350 aluminum ramp (shown in the picture above) from a wheelchair specialty company. And even using that aluminum ramp, I had to Kluge it with specially ubolts and carabiners so that the entire power chair and ramp would not slip off and cause a very serious personal and product safety issue. 2. With a 360 pound power chair on the platform, it is VERY unstable, and likely unsafe. 3. Part of the reason it is so unstable is because it did not come with the stabilizer bracket that has four bolts that is shown in the picture on Amazon. 4. The product has a label on it stating that you cannot drive over 45 mph. This is not listed in the specifications section in Amazon, and when I asked a question on Amazon, I did not receive a response except from other users that say they drive it at highway speeds. This 45 mph limitation should clearly be stated in the specifications. Amazon should be ashamed that it carries this and all similar Power chair hitch mounted carrier products on its website without providing better specification information. All other brands will likely have all four of the problems that I stated above. Buyer beware. Do not buy this product or any similar product for power chairs. They would possibly work for lighter weight power scooters.
