Exactly what I needed for my 3800 series 3 engine. I was getting an intermittent thermostat code and really wanted to get this because it's supposed to be the highest quality option, I've heard plenty of legitimate horror stories on car forums and discussion groups about the consequences of running a cheap aftermarket thermostat on these engines and they also seem to have a short life span if you don't get a delco Stat. I've had this in for about one month and it's performance is flawless now with no code and my temperature gauge is always happily in the perfect center 50% between cold/hot where it used to be. When my thermostat was flaking out previously I would see my needle creep up occasionally to the 60% ish mark and later drop down to around 40% on the gauge. I haven't had a chance to pull the numerical coolant data from my scan tool yet but just seeing my coolant gauge be stable and consistent is very reassuring. ... show more

    • An EXACT fir for a 2005 Bonneville SLE 3.8
This ain't the cheapest of the cheap but it has the gasket already installed. Cheaper ones don't have the offset opening either which is essential for the 3.8 engine. Replacement is easy. Two bolts to remove the cover. Easy to get to. Remove the old one and wipe it down with a WET rag. Scrape off any gunk with a plastic spudge, rewipe and drop in this one with the offset opening to the left to allow it to open and close properly. Put the cover back on and tighten the bolts. After using two aftermarket thermostats that lasted only a few weeks each. I couldn't take another day with the check engine light on. I replaced them with this factory thermostat and the light hasn't cake on since I installed this one!

I bought this and one from napa in case the one from Amazon was a fake. The boxes were the same and looked identical. I returned the one to napa because it was almost 10 dollars more. I did buy a paper gasket at napa that was recommended and did not have any leaks. This was for a 2005 monte carlo ss with the 3.8l super charged engine. Amazon says this doesn't fit but it is the same part number napa recommended. Not sure why that is, but it works. Very cold out and now engine is running between 190 and 200 with a temperature rating of 195. Great! ... show more

This thermostat is more expensive. Buy it anyway. Don't buy cheap thermostats for your car. You think you're saving money but you're not. Get one good one and you won't have to think about it for some time.

Matches the OEM fits perfect I purchased a felpro gasket as recommended by a reviewer, not required, the one the comes with the thermostat fits fine. when installing make sure its aligned press around the edges its snug but goes in pretty easy. Just installed and tested no leaks works as expected.
