I bought these lights to string around the deck. I wanted something that will not be so bright as to "blind" you, or be oppressive. These beautiful small, globe lights are perfect for what I want to use them for. They are a soft white light, and the length is perfect. OK, that "remote control" they are talking about here.... as everyone else has said, it's pretty much not a separate remote (as you would expect a remote to be). It has a small button on the plug itself, that if pushed several times goes from one function to another, however this was really not an issue for me, as I wanted these to be steady burning. I will plug them into an outdoor timer, so the on and off "plugging and unplugging issue" is not a problem for me. I'm so happy I purchased these! ... show more

We connected these to other lights with the same input/output connections, using the new plug to plug in all the light strings, and the remote settings work on all of them, even the non-color variety! Obviously our older lights don't have all the colors, but still adjust their blink setting to match the rest. They look really cool up and last FOREVER (although as they get older, the light starts to dim) Really fantastic product and very durable. I love them ... show more

I bought this to hang in my bedroom, works well and adds a lot to the overall look of the room! I'm not sure if by "remote control" they mean the button on the plug-in - it works to control the settings on the lights, but its far from "remote." One thing that I am not so happy with is that there's no dim setting - only a setting that changes from dim to off. I wish I could keep it on dim overnight, but for me, it's too much to sleep with it on. Overall, great product! ... show more

I was so excited for these lights to come in as my roommate has almost identical ones. The only difference is that hers comes with a remote. The main reason I bought these lights was due to the remote being listed in the product description. Yes there is a button to push for different light settings. However there is not control over the brightness of the lights and to turn on the lights I have to unplug/plugin the lights. I'm incredibly disappointed with being misled to think these lights came with an actual remote. I recommend buying a different set of lights off of amazon that actually has a remote, if this is something you are also looking for when buying lights. ... show more
