I was refreshing the side area of my house, and the post I had just a regular hose holder on needed to be fixed up. I really don't like manually pulling and putting back a garden hose, so I wanted to try a retractable reel. Installation was easy and only took a few minutes. the hose and mount are incredible and having this as part of the back yard has been a wonderful addition. However, after less than one year of use the nozzle that comes with the hose broke. It leaks at the handle and lever to turn the water on.

I was looking at changing how I store the hose I use all the time from a box on the ground to a wall mounted unit. My neighbor has a couple of these and really likes them, so I gave them a shot. They do work very well, pretty easy to use and simple to install. The hose is 1/2", not 5/8" as advertised. Flow rate would obviously be better with 5/8" but this still does work well. Just have to spray a little longer. The unit rotates 180 degrees, which is nice when pulling hose out, you don't just have to pull in the same line. The hose does get heavy when pulling out, but it is full of water. Retracting works great, the hose pulls back in fast if you don't control it, so be sure to control the hose when retracting, it will eventually break if you don't. Installation was simple, it can easily be done by one person. I don't think the template is very accurate, but it really isn't needed when just attaching to wood. Easy enough to find the center and start one hole, the others fall in place. My problem is the hose is not 5/8". It is 1/2". Garden hoses, like all types of raceway/pipe, are classified by inside diameter, not outside. I contacted the manufacturer on this and they stated their hoses are listed by outside diameter, causing confusion and making the buyer think they're getting a better product.     • Pro’s, Con’s & Advice when purchasing this great retractable hose!

Last year I purchased this same brand only the one that is 100’ long, it had the smaller hose, It takes care of my front yard. This year I purchased the 90’ retractable hose and this one has the larger hose. I LOVE them. I am listing the pro/cons and advice for both. The 90’ hose is for my back yard, It is much harder for me to pull it all out, but both take effort to pull out. PRO’S: You will never have to roll up by hand your hose again, it delivers a great amount of water, CON’S: both hose’s will kink when watering and when this happens the water will completely shut off. Both size’s of the hose take ALOT of effort to pull out, but I have a lot of health issues so ADVICE: When rolling the hose back into the unit, you will need to keep your hand on the hose to keep control, otherwise it rolls up too fast. When doing this, I keep the water on, and I spray the hose where my hand is on the hose as it is retracting, this will keep the hose clean and help keeping the internal area from getting all the dirt/grass that sticks on the hose. Last bit of advice: Make sure it is mounted securely, Our back yard hose is attached on the side of our fireplace, the hose in the front of house, has pulled away from the house. My husband finally attached a board to the front of our house and attached the real to the board. If it pulls off again, he plans on getting a square deck support post, digging down, then using cement to set the post, and then mount the hose to that. All in all, this is a GREAT retractable hose, and I use it every day during the summer. I also highly recommend this to anyone looking to get this hose. ... show more

    • Not premium, not worth it, not a solution to hose problems

I love the idea of a hose reel that retracts nicely and is removable during our off-season. I’m still looking for a decent product because the Giraffe Tools version is horrible. Why I wanted to return this before I even installed it: 1. Plastic case is too thin, cheap 2. Included hose sprayer is cheap all plastic junk 3. Plastic case was shown in multiple videos to greatly discolor after only 1 season in the sun 4. plastic, not metal mounting bracket - known to warp over time. They sell a metal bracket for an additional $30. (cheaped out on probable known issue) 5. customer service was called twice over two days and they will not answer the phone. You have to either leave your email address or simply send them an email. Response is not immediate, may take a whole day. If you have another question, expect another day. (bad customer service model) The bad quality here was a telltale sign that this should’ve been returned immediately, but I went ahead with the install anyway. Why it was returned in the end: 1. Set screw for mount stripped with light and even pressure. In any situation, it will strip quickly. Dumb fastening system. 2. 1/2 inch hole required to get bolts in - that's far too big, and the requirement to go a full 2 inches into the brick is also too deep. (may enter the hole in the middle of the brick, resulting in a useless hole that’s too deep, as mine did) They should’ve included Tapcons. (cheap). Furthermore, if you do mount into brick like I did, the holes are just a bit too big and the mount won’t hold the weight properly, allowing sagging and eventual failure. (Again Tapcons, poor design) 3. Rubber seal for lead hose missing on one side. 4. Made poorly in China I have 4 - ½ inch holes in my brick now that must be repaired. This product is sold as a premium product but it’s not even close. AVOID! 1 star for wasting my time, poor engineering, being cheap, and damaging my home. ... show more
