For the price, this tool does not disappoint. I use it for personal use and I chose this because I'm a gearwrench fan. I have had not troubles or issues with this one.

  • great product and price must have for shop
This has the same software as the high end products, but at a much lower price. I have been using this for a while now and it does everything described easy

  • Works well
Very convenient and a little confusing at first but it’s easy to catch on fast when you sit down and mess with it for a bit. The special functions aren’t available for every vehicle which is a little annoying, I need airbags reset on my 2017 Chevy Silverado and I can’t but I’m hoping there will be an update soon. It’s nice how you get free updates too. ... show more

  • This a great introductory Bi-Directional Diagnostic Scanner.
This a great introductory Bi-Directional Diagnostic Scanner. I use this thing everyday. Whether I'm doing a diagnostic scan and looking at live data to resetting a maintenance service reminders. It small enough to not be cumbersome when moving around the shop to different vehicles and doesn't take up as much box top space. The screen is very easy to read and for those vehicles with lots of systems in the topology you can zoom in and out. VCI connects quickly to the tablet once plugged into the vehicle. You can save scan reports and then either print them out via Wi-Fi or even email them direct from the device. You can also customize the report with a company logo if you have one and your contact information. I have had this thing for almost a year at this point and have not regretted the purchase since. There have been daily updates to the various vehicles and functions in the last few months and they are constantly making improvements to the device. ... show more

  • Love Gearwrench and this tool. DON'T BUY IT
Absolutely adore this tool, but they are going to need to make some changes before it can "OE" level or acceptable for use with less experienced folks. I screwed up immediately and I'm not inexperienced. We bought this one for mobile work because it is smaller, less expensive if it gets lost or damaged, and can be remoted into by a more experienced tech or a specialist. There is lots of good about this scan tool. Topology is amazing, compatibility is decent (so far we're looking good for major brands with some weakness on BMW/Mini and Mazda). I really love love love the remote in feature. For independent techs that's awesome. I don't think the 2022 Autel that stays at the shop has that. But now when you get something odd in the shop and you have a friend that specializes in that make they can just remote into the scan tool and have a look themselves. Want your land rover buddy to look at the air suspension system? No problem. Takes about 2 minutes for them to hook up. And they can take control of the tool and look at what they want. Fantastic. I am less enamored with the live data. Its all there but it feels like you're hunting through PID's and as yet, while I can actuate solenoids, I can't graph them like I want in many cases. But its too easy to screw up. Yesterday I hit the wrong button and entered forward radar. I didn't want to go there-I just touched it by accident. It entered front radar recalibration on a Mazda, which admittedly has become a difficult manufacture. On identifix (a data subscription and service manual subscription service if you are unfamiliar), they have joined the ranks of Land rover and BMW/Mini where you have to put in requests for info because the manufactures are intentionally being obtuse. Nevertheless I can't remember anything like this happening to me even back in the day when Autel was the newcomer. Once I touched the radar menu there was no back up button (grayed out, does not respond) and no cancel button. Only an OK button that, since there was no way to back out, I assumed took me to the next menu (which is normal). Nope. Recalibrated in 15 seconds (on nothing- you need calibration mirrors that start at like $1000). I just can't imagine a use case on shop tools where we're often in gloves where no back up or cancel is acceptable. So, if you DO get one of these, be aware and be prepped to yank the dongle, shut off the tablet, or shut down the diag app. But doing so is also not ideal when you don't know what signals it has already sent to the computer. Love love love gear wrench. Generally I think they are the best tool company out there balancing quality and cost. and you get an amazing amount for what you pay with this tool. The problem is that I could have bought a similarly capable autel for the money I spend on this and at the dealer to fix my error today. And if I was a country bumpkin, ok. But I've been working with scan tools for years. I've had things go bad in programming that no one but the dealer could fix. Or the system fail. But never before have a had a button, which is generally a menu, bring you to recalibration with no back or cancel. that's a new one for me. It is relatively quick, on scanning, really quick to start up if you leave it in standby (but eats battery, this will need to be on the charger pretty regularly) and frankly pretty slow to start from off, but that's fine. There's always a usb C to charge with at shop or on the road. No big deal. Readability is good except in the sun, but I'm in Phoenix AZ, and most folks will be in a garage as we are half the time anyway. Just outside its a little tough to see sometimes. Hopefully Gear wrench gets the software a little more sorted. If they can keep updating and under $1000 I think they could change accessibility in the industry. But man, if you get this, be careful with this one. That was a hell of a pucker moment and I could see far more expensive instances of what I did happening. ... show more
