    • Works okay but complicated to adjust
This Garrett metal detector is very sensitive and easily detects objects. However, it also easily detects minerals in the ground that are difficult to filter/differentiate out. I have only used it for about 5-6 hours and have found lots of brass bullet casings, nails, rusty fence wire particles, aluminum siding snips, and 13¢ (all <40 years old)! A friend has a different brand and this one is much more sensitive. I found a buried tin box in my woods and was excited that I found a hidden treasure! But if it originally had a treasure, it had turned into dirt. 8-( It works like it should, but don't expect to instantly find a pirate treasure. Be sure to get the little orange wand too because trying to locate what the big detector identifies would be almost impossible without it! While scooping dirt out of the detection spot, it is easy to scoop out and discard what you are digging for! Then you need to start all over digging through the mound of dirt you just built. The wand lets you quickly sweep the loose dirt as you dig so you don't miss the target. Also it localizes the exact spot of the detection to within an inch or so. The big detector only localizes to about 6 to 9 inches. I like this detector and would recommend it. I have it 4 stars not because it is bad but because you really must want to use it to spend the time to perfect its controls. There probably is not a detector made that would deserve 5 stars. I have used 5 different brands and I like this one best but it still is not 'amazing' just due to it being a metal detector which takes work. ... show more

    • This detector was a great buy. Mine came with the pin pointer and the digger.
So far I really like the metal detector. I need to play around with it more and really learn how to use it.

    • Assembly needed.
I bought this for my father. I figured it would give him some exercise looking for coins. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the assembly that is needed. It took my father a couple of hours to assemble.
