The 300 is a good starting detector BUT…I DID NOT RECEIVE THE PRO-POINTER AT and case which was advertised and described as part of the package. I am still trying to resolve this as it was the main selling point feature that I was excited about. And the only response I have received is…”Did you check the box?”!!! I have checked and rechecked every dimension of the box! It has not magically materialized as yet and I have had no resolution. So I would not suggest purchasing from the “Detector Experts”.

One page on how to put it together doesn't tell you the grommets go on the inside where thr head attaches to post. Getting the display in at the top of post was difficult had to scratches the paint off before it would fit. I did right a negative review right off must had some bad coffees but I walked out of my garage went 5 feet and started finding pennies and buttons. Works great! Headed to the beach! Pinpointed is a must. Was told that by an experienced guy. Glad I listened.

I'm hooked! First time out detecting and found a musket ball and military button both from approximately 1860. Can't wait to get back out there! The Garrett Ace 300 met all my expectations and more! Easy to operate and the digital display helps you discriminate your targets...I highly recommend it.

Recently purchased the Garrett Ace 300 metal detector through Amazon. Had the opportunity to use the detector this weekend and find myself less than impressed with its performance. All connections are fully tightened and rechecked but still have a problem. Simply shaking the device produces signals out of thin air, ANY physical contact with the coil produces signals, even lightly brushing the tops of weeds or other plants. Whatever settings I use produces inconsistent response even when the target (various coins) is laying on top of the ground. Using my older detector over ground that has already been searched by the Ace 300 produces a surprising number of targets missed by the Ace. Don't know if this is just a problem with this particular detector or if the problem is inherent with the 300. I have friends useing the 400 model and they have NO problems with theirs. Yes, I am a novice seeker but I have more experienced people who accompany me on my searches, so the problem doesn't appear to be "operator error".
