    • Best small chipper for the money
The GardenBeaut R30 chipper is a top choice for small lots (10,000 sq. feet or less) due to its excellent performance and low cost. It's designed specifically for chipping, not shredding leaves. If leaves are dumped into the hopper, clogging might result. This chipper has one of the largest throat openings for a small chipper. The throat is the narrowest constriction point at the bottom of the funnel before wood branches meet the blades. The throat on the GardenBeaut R30 is a very generous 4.75"x5.5". The large throat allows shrubs, gnarly tree branches, and branches with many side branches sticking out to easily feed through the chipper throat. The GardenBeaut R30 offers not just superior performance but also unmatched convenience. With no belts or clutches to replace, it's a direct drive chipper with double-sided blades. Its self-feeding action is remarkably efficient, and starting it is a breeze, thanks to the light mass of the drum. Its portability is a bonus, with its weight and compactness making it easy to move around. The hinged funnel can pivot up, minimizing storage space and adding to its user-friendly design. Some minor annoyances: The hopper is hinged and mates with the chipping chamber, but the hopper is not aligned perfectly with the chipping chamber. As a result, a small unintended lip at the junction between the hopper and the chipping chamber causes tree branches to constantly get caught at the lip, requiring jiggling to get past that lip. That lip is an annoyance but not a catastrophic flaw. It can easily handle hardwood up to 2" in diameter. I wouldn't feed a 3" trunk into it unless it's very soft wood. For 2" tree branches or larger, the best way to feed it is not to allow the blades to self-feed the branch too aggressively because doing so could stall the engine. Instead, let the blades chew a large branch 2 to 3 inches at a time while holding back the branch with your hands. Then, push the branch down and let the blades chew another 2 to 3 inches.     • Never started
I followed the instructions from the book, and followed a video by a YouTuber, and it never started. This, after I spent a bunch of time researching alternatives to SE oil and ethanol-free fuel and going from store to store and calling around because either places didn't have what I needed, or they couldn't understand what I was requesting. A huge waste of time and money. Buy American-made or from an actual store. I'm tempted to go to Harbor Freight, even though I'm not fully confident in their wood chipper. At least I'll know I can talk to customer service people face-to-face. I tried calling customer service for Chongqing Rato Technology on the back of the instruction book, but they aren't open Saturdays--the day you are most likely to use this piece of ****. ... show more

I have 80 raw acres to develope trails and fields, and this is one of my new favorite tools. Even my teenage daughters love using it. Originally I was just going to burn all the branches and brush, but this will pay for itself in landscaping wood chips. Its heavy duty, runs without issue, and does the job beautifully. Took twenty minutes to put together using an impact wrench. The pictures are a bit small, but not difficult to follow. For me, anything 2.5 inches or bigger is going on the wood pile, but you do have to feed that size and larger slowly so it doesn't bog the engine down. But that is the same with an chipper at max diameter. The blades are heavy duty and chews up the branches and brush quickly. We chipped a large pile of brush in 30 minutes. I have a lot of jack pine and spruce and it chopped up the fresh needles just fine. Haven't tried it with leaves since I don't really have any. It is a difficult one to pull start, but it's always started on first pull. No regrets choosing this model. And the $80 off coupon Amazon gave was a nice bonus. ... show more

    • Does the job somewhat...
It doesn't shred 3 in dia. pieces of wood, but 2 it will just fine. This shredder is not meant for branches that flare out, they have to be straight enough so that they will bend into the shredder. If you got some tough branches you gotta cut them straight enough so that'll fit. ALSO when I was assembling the machine I torqued the bolts that hold the blades a little by hand. I was surprised that I could still tighten them a little more. I read a review (other chippers) a bolt came loose and seized up their chipper. Idk I just wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen to me. For the price I guess its okay, Im not gonna spend $1000+ on equipment I'm going to use rarely. I'm sure those expensive machines could do 3 in dia. I'll update with pictures as well.. some welds look like crap and the paint on where you insert the wood has chipped off.. All fixable but I bought a machine to use not fix. ... show more

Does the job as expected. It really met my expectations I'm using it to shread coconuts into mulch and shread these fast also branches Good product. Had a small issue with the fuel hose However got a fast response from the seller. And problem solved.

    • Chipper works very well, but sellers support is terrible.
Machine came with the gas tank smashed, but operable. Gas cap was broken. I asked for a replacement, even sent pictures. Seller was unresponsive.
