Really love it. So easy to make different drinks. They could improve setup instructions and the milk dispenser needs to be set further away from the coffee downspouts, but still love it overall.

The Downfall of Gaggia continue... :( I bought this machine because when I was 16yrs old I had a manual Gaggia coffee machine. WOW the coffe was soooo good ! Sturdy machine... ok.. whatever. After that I bought a Delonghi automatic wich last.... a solid 10 years ! Good machine. I had to buy another one since the Delonghi was at the end of the road. I saw this Gaggia and ... I said to myself... ok... at 43 it's the time to return to this great coffee taste (the coffee is indeed really good !!) But... .... ALL THE DESIGN must be trash and redone from scratch ! At first the milk frother is a bit odd... SEVEN PARTS!!!! mostly unable to clean completely. Assemble, disassemble etc... on the medium run... it will not hold FOR SURE... And you cannot use the cup lifter when the milk jug is on the machine (wut ??). The milk frother is, by this glitch in the design, hyper messy. To load the water reservoir is a hard task if your machine is on your kitchen counter and you have cabinet over.... (yep they do a top water refill) instead of a sliding reservoir like most. After something like 10 coffee.... the grinder stop grinding.... no jokes ! Another stupid stuff... you cannot operate the grinder with the lid open (to see what's happening) you have to find a very little magnet to bypass the sensor.... a pain !!! Good for us (in a way) the grinder never started again. We return the machine. Don't get full by the paid review on many website ... this machine is the worst thing you can imagine as a coffee maker. Sad... the ONLY good point... the tactile screen, the taste of the coffee.... that is all ! ... show more

    • Quite capable, all-purpose automatic coffee maker
Not going to pretend that this is a flawless product. But I will say that it has made me look forward to my morning coffee, even more than the older Gaggia machine it replaced. With this model, Gaggia has endeavored to provide the best of both worlds when it comes to an automatic bean to cup machine: one, provide default one-button functionality to produce multiple different coffee recipes—espresso, cappuccino, latte, cafe au lait, flat white, etc.—and two, make an almost infinitely adjustable machine to produce exactly the coffee recipe that floats your boat. I think Gaggia has mostly succeeded, at least for those people who don’t want to weigh their beans, measure the amount of water used, grind their beans, and steam their milk in separate steps. Would all this fuss make a better cup of coffee. Probably yes. But who has the time? For me, I like the automation this machine provides. Yes, there are maintenance operations one must perform, like cleaning the milk spout, emptying the waste water and used coffee pucks, and occasionally cleaning the brew group. But this machine will make you a nice espresso, cappuccino, or latte with minimal interaction. While all this is happening, you can go do other things, like prepare your breakfast, set the table, or browse the Internet or your social media of choice. I’ve had this machine about two weeks. I’ve tried most every coffee recipe it yields. I’ve dialed in and saved some adjustments to the stock recipes so that they are more to my liking. I believe I’ll be doing more of this over time, but right now I’m pretty happy with the results. My wife, who usually has tea or drip coffee in the morning was so intrigued with the machine that she wanted me to teach her how to use it. It took about 10 minutes, but now she’s happily enjoying cappuccino every morning. Certainly you can find better made, more capable machines out there. The dual boiler machines are supposed to be the pinnacle. But I have not found a machine this capable for less money. For the lion’s share of people who just want a simple to use, mostly automated machine, this one fits the bill. I had a Gaggia Anima machine before this one. It served me well for almost 10 years. It still worked to grind the beans and make espresso, but the pump that steamed the milk was failing. I probably could have had it repaired for $200-$300, but decided to buy this new machine. I’m happy with the decision. I think the jury’s out as to how reliable this machine will be over time. And as yet, I’ve not been able to dial in as rich a cup of espresso as I’d like. But I’m going to continue to experiment with the settings and the beans, and who knows? Maybe I’ll get there. If not, I’ll have fun trying, and in the meantime, I’m sure I can make do. ... show more

    • Didn't work, right out of the box.
UPDATE! I'm leaving my original comments up, in car anyone has a similar issue. I never heard back from Gaggia, but I did contact Whole Latte Love and their tech support talked me through the reset process. It now works and I love it. I wish the steamed milk was a tad hotter, but this machine is everything I wanted it to be. So excited to get this, but that excitement didn't last. It wouldn't get through the start up mode. Seems to be having a sensor issue. The worst part is a $700 coffee maker, after shipping, doesn't offer live customer service. Only through their website. So back it goes. ... show more

    • Dream machine with error in manual

We love our new Gaggia Magenta Prestige! We read tons of reviews and own a gaggia classic, but wanted to upgrade to an fully automated espresso and cappuccino experience and we haven't been disappointed except for one thing. Every time we try to use the ground coffee bypass, to use decaf, it would spill grinds all over inside the brew group. Cleaning it out is a long process so after five failed attempts I reached out to technical support at WholeLatteLove. They told me that pouring the measured ground coffee into the bypass shoot can only be done AFTER choosing the drink settings and the bypass setting. I've attached a page from the manual however which says the exact opposite, the manual instructs adding the ground coffee first! You would think an $800 machine would have no errors in the manual! Now our dream machine is working like a dream because we know the right order of steps finally! ... show more

    • Watery coffee, not espresso
I received this machine and decided to return it the very next day after trying multiple settings. The unit I received simply did not produce anything I would consider espresso. I tried different grind settings, including the finest setting, maximum coffee strength, highest temperature, and a small espresso volume. I also used a freshly opened bag of good-quality Italian espresso beans. Nothing helped. The coffee was thin and watery, with virtually no crema or body. The used grounds were also extremely wet, with excess water collecting in the grounds container instead of forming relatively firm coffee pucks. I previously owned a Jura superautomatic in a similar category. Of course, no superautomatic should be expected to match a good traditional espresso machine, but the Jura still produced a very decent, recognizable espresso with good body and crema. The difference here was dramatic. If you are happy with something closer to drip coffee or French press quality, this machine may work for you. But at this price, and for a product sold as an espresso machine, I expected much better extraction. Maybe my particular unit was defective, but based on my experience I cannot recommend it to anyone who really cares about espresso. ... show more

    • Awful machine! Buyer beware!
As I start this review, we have owned a semi automatic espresso machine for over ten years. We bought this machine to upgrade. Our old delonghi magnifica was showing some signs of age. It is still a great machine. We should have bought a new one of that brand. Now for the gaggia. We have had nothing but trouble with this machine. From it not pumping water out consistently to the magnet coming loose on the lid to poor customer service. We are very particular with our machine. Only use filtered water, clean and descale on a regular basis and only us Lavazza beans. We are very disappointed and would return this machine if we could. We like the coffee/espresso taste but the machine is just so cheap. We will buying a better machine, NOT THIS BRAND!!!! So very disappointed!!! ... show more

The espresso machine is super easy to operate and maintain. Instructions are super clear. I love everything about the machine. It makes a variety of coffee beverages, allows for more ample beverage customization; strength, temperature, quantity, is easy to clean, and looks great in the kitchen. One minor thing is having to refill the water reservoir regularly, but it's not a big deal. Excellent purchase. If you're a coffee drinker, do yourself a favor and get one of these. ... show more
