The Downfall of Gaggia continue... :( I bought this machine because when I was 16yrs old I had a manual Gaggia coffee machine. WOW the coffe was soooo good ! Sturdy machine... ok.. whatever. After that I bought a Delonghi automatic wich last.... a solid 10 years ! Good machine. I had to buy another one since the Delonghi was at the end of the road. I saw this Gaggia and ... I said to myself... ok... at 43 it's the time to return to this great coffee taste (the coffee is indeed really good !!) But... .... ALL THE DESIGN must be trash and redone from scratch ! At first the milk frother is a bit odd... SEVEN PARTS!!!! mostly unable to clean completely. Assemble, disassemble etc... on the medium run... it will not hold FOR SURE... And you cannot use the cup lifter when the milk jug is on the machine (wut ??). The milk frother is, by this glitch in the design, hyper messy. To load the water reservoir is a hard task if your machine is on your kitchen counter and you have cabinet over.... (yep they do a top water refill) instead of a sliding reservoir like most. After something like 10 coffee.... the grinder stop grinding.... no jokes ! Another stupid stuff... you cannot operate the grinder with the lid open (to see what's happening) you have to find a very little magnet to bypass the sensor.... a pain !!! Good for us (in a way) the grinder never started again. We return the machine. Don't get full by the paid review on many website ... this machine is the worst thing you can imagine as a coffee maker. Sad... the ONLY good point... the tactile screen, the taste of the coffee.... that is all ! ... show more

    • Good value versus others
We've used a Jura S9 machine (well, two of them after the first died) for about 15 years. Our last one has made more than 22k drinks, but was really starting to struggle and it's no longer worth the repair bills (although their service was outstanding). This is a significantly lower-priced machine but I pulled several shots from each and can't tell much difference. Since we typically make milk drinks like cappuccinos and lattes, any minor differences in the shots would likely not be noticeable to me anyway. Some quick observations: - The Gaggia does a better job on heating milk. I like really hot drinks, and the Jura could never heat the milk enough. - We used a powered external milk cooler for the Jura which held a lot more and never needed to be put in the fridge, so this is less convenient but not a big deal. I wish it held more milk, however. - Love the very easy customization options for a machine at this price. The ability to save them is great. - The machine pulls shots and adds milk in the correct order depending on the drink. Very nice. - For double shots, it actually grinds and pulls two separate shots, versus just adding more water to the same shot...a lot nicer than our Jura did (other Jura models may do this, but not at this price point). - We use the bypass frequently when we want decaf. My biggest complaint is it struggles to pull a shot through a grind you would typically do for an espresso machine. I'm going to have to get more coarsely ground beans from my local shop, which i suspect will require some experimenting. Overall very happy with what this does versus more expensive machines. I'll miss our Jura but so far this has been a good replacement. ... show more

What’s less than 1 star. Stopped working less the 24 hours after startup. Water leaked. 2nd time was the charm sooooooo far. 1st one had a water issue, sounded like a train, this one much better.

I got this machine from my husband for Christmas and we both LOVE it! The seller is responsive, there are very helpful video’s on EVERYTHING with this machine, the coffee choices are awesome and the coffee drinks are PERFECT! You can customize your drinks as you please and they are plenty hot. It’s super easy to care for, makes cleaning it easy, and while the noises are somewhat loud, we find them charming and fun. So very glad I got this machine! ... show more

    • Faulty device features
It has pros and cons but I feel like the cons were so visible and hard to ignore that it pretty ruins the overall experience of the machine Pros: Easy of use and with a easy to and clean interface to choose the type of drink you want. Various cafe drinks to choose from. Cons: THE MILK CARAFE!! Literally one of the main reasons I decided to go with a machine like this was the promise of a storable milk carafe that can froth milk. BUT the sensor in the machine doesn't sense the milk carafe at all when it's inserted! Literally I had to stand there and had to keep pushing the carafe while it's making the coffee to make sure the sensor is sensing it. That's not the type of automatic espresso machine experience you want. If the carafe feature doesn't work, making all of the milk-based coffee drinks is a hassle. Plus you can't even store milk in the carafe for later use because if you have used it once, the rest of the milk stored in the carafe spoils in a day or 2 most likely from some heat leaking into the milk. ... show more

    • Beware of user errors leading to “issues” - this machine is fantastic
First off, I love this machine, it does what it advertises. The main reason for this review is to debunk some others who claim issues when in fact they are more the issue than the coffee maker. For example the milk carafe - it goes in one way, and one way only. Trying to put it in backwards (I admit it’s not totally obvious at first which way is correct) will lead to exactly the type of “issue” mentioned in reviews about it not locking in place. Put it in correctly, and surprise surprise it works correctly. While a “super automatic”, don’t expect it to be super simple or there to be no maintenance - yes it makes the drinks on auto pilot, but not all the cleaning too. My advice is to take 10 minutes to read the manual, and save yourself from being an uninformed and unsatisfied user of this machine. Machine is great. ... show more
