Update: I had this is demo mode for a long time without realizing it until I read an answer to a question on here that said how to get it out of that mode. Now we can play a beat as long as we like without it turning off! It's been nearly two years since we first got this and it still gets regular play and we still love it! Read on for original review: This is the funnest toy we've had in a long time. I got this for my 6 year old's birthday and I must say, even though he and his 7 year old brother love it, I've spent some quality time on it myself while the kids were playing outside. The mixer has 15 different basic samples to choose from and then 15 different layering options per sample. There are also 5 additional "party" sounds per sample and an optional vocal track. You can adjust the tempo to a "slow jam" all the way up to a high energy break beat. There is a scratch wheel that also has 5 different scratch settings. The toy also lets you record your tracks to play back later. There's also an "academy" feature setting which is basically a Simon Says game designed to help you learn different beat layering techniques. I love this toy, but here are my pros and cons: Pros: -easy for age 6 and up to make tracks that sound good and give them confidence - hundreds of beat combination possibilities - genuinely decent sounding samples for kids - good variety of music styles from hip hop to dance -can record tracks for playback later -fun party light -bluetooth connectivity (haven't tried this feature) -scratch wheel has a heavy weight similar to a real one -headphone jack -batteries or plug in Cons: -Turns itself off really fast if you're not pressing buttons (6 measures only), so you can't just sit on a beat and listen to it for very long -No manual mode where you can press the buttons and make one sound to create your own beat. -The academy mode is kind of hard for younger kids Overall, this DJ set far exceeded my expectations for a kid's toy and we're really happy with it. ... show more

I saw a review for this on a random lady's YouTube channel. She posted a short featuring loud noisy toys that she was testing so fellow parents wouldn't have to. Well, she sold this for me. She said it was fun and worth the price. I waited some time to get it for one of my daughters and she is THRILLED with it. She throws dance parties for our household in her room...it's plenty loud, and the disco lights are the icing on the cake. They connect it to the tablet for more music options. Her fav toy this Christmas 2025! I’ve been a customer of VTech for a long time. But a DJ mixer? I was so sceptical. Especially for $50. But parents this is worth the money! My 3.5 year old can’t get enough. In fact after I showed her how to change the sounds etc on the board, she took off with it!! She closed her eyes, and legit started moving her head around while she pressed sounds on the board. I can’t take it!! She vibes on this thing. It’s the coolest thing to see. Somehow it’s simple enough to use but not “toy” feeling either. They made it easy to use but not too easy. Includes a lot of pre recorded music styles and sounds. Scratch disc is super cool, the lights make it even more amazing. My daughter is developmentally normal/ahead, never been exposed to a DJ mixer before, and doesn’t see me close my eyes and vibe to music. I usually dance around her. Video upload was going to take too long- attached a pic! Get this even if you think your kid may be too young for it!! ... show more

My 8 month old LOVES toys with buttons, music & lights. We got him a toy remote control and toy phone, but he moved on quickly. I got him this toy hoping he would have fun figuring out all the features and so he loves it. When it turns off and the guy says “see you later” my son vocalizes to get me to turn it back on again. This is a video of him playing with the KidiStar DJ Mixer right out of the box. Requires 4AA batteries by the way, but it does turn on right out of the box so you can try it out in demo mode which is great if you have kids. So many cool features on this toy for a kid’s toy! You definitely get value for your money! I think my husband I will have a ton of fun playing around on the DJ mixer with our son. ... show more

My son loves this! I got it for Xmas last year and when I say he hasn’t stopped playing with it. I even find myself and his father playing with it. Lol. It’s not bulky or too big that it will get in the way. It gets very loud for it the size that it is. The volume is easy to control with the two different switches at the bottom in the front. Very durable, a 3 year old tends to throw and drop a lot of things. Lmbo. Can connect to your phone via Bluetooth or line in cord. Also has a microphone port. This dj mixer is straight‑up vibes. My autistic kiddos were OBSESSED — like, full concert mode in the living room. It’s super easy to use, the buttons are chunky and satisfying, and the sound effects go crazy in the best way. They loved mixing tracks, hitting the beat pads, and pretending they were headlining Coachella (but, y’know… the toddler edition).
