  • Cheap chirps, priceless laughs
This thing is great! I bought a couple and hid them in my kids' rooms... It drove them nuts! Took my one son a good twenty four hours to find the one in his room and the other didn't get to it before the battery wore out. I laughed the entire time. Hidden correctly, it sounds exactly like a real cricket is on the loose. And it's small enough that it's easy to hide just about anywhere. You actually want a little bit of obstruction, it helps deflect the sound and makes it harder to find. You want to have some fun with someone? This is a great way to do it. ... show more

  • I wouldn't buy again
Bought this mostly to prank my granddaughter who hates crickets, but I have to say, even though this item is exactly as described, it didn't work in my house. The sound of the cricket was too soft, never varied and could have been taken for the beeping of a fire alarm with low batteries. Too many people and dogs in my house and the sound got lost and absolutely no one said anything. Maybe in an apartment where one or two people live. It didn't work for me. ... show more

  • Waste of money - doesn't work!
It turns on and I hear the chirp once and then never curious again unless I press the black button again and hear the two chirps indicating it's off. I waited for an hour and nothing. What a waste of money! I ordered two and I'm waiting for the second one tomorrow. I may just cancel that order! Save your money. It's a hit or miss. ... show more

  • Attack of the Cricket
This worked like a charm. Sounds like a cricket. Turning it off and on got confusing because sometimes it takes awhile for the first chirp to sound. So you have to wait to find out if you turned it on right. Other than the on/off performance the quality is great and hilarious! Drove my co-worker crazy. Highly recommend for value. Can use over on someone else. Not sure how long battery works. We will see . . . ... show more

  • Evil. Pure evil.
Oh. My. Gosh. This little gadget is the stuff of evil genius dreams. If you’ve ever wanted to watch someone slowly descend into madness while you cackle in the corner, this Frickin’ Cricket is your new best friend. Setup It’s ridiculously easy to set up—just hide it in a dark, unreachable spot (behind a bookshelf, inside a vent, under the couch cushions), turn it on, and let the chaos unfold. The chirping is perfectly sporadic, so your victim has no chance of predicting when it’ll strike. It’s like a cricket with a PhD in torment. Execution I hid this in my coworker’s desk. By the second chirp, she was squinting suspiciously at her computer. By the fifth, she was muttering something about “the classroom being cursed.” By lunchtime, she was on her knees, flashlight in hand, whispering, “Where ARE you?!” Highlights My niece thought her phone was malfunctioning. She rebooted it four times before realizing the chirping wasn’t coming from her apps. My brother thought an actual cricket had invaded his car. He vacuumed it twice. ... show more

  • Not Realistic
I bought this item but had to wait 9 months for the perfect opportunity to prank my victims. I was worried that the battery might not last so long, but I had no problems with it once I turned it on. It was very durable. I was worried that the adhesive would be cheap, but it stuck well and strong (even though I stuck it in a hurry in a dusty area). My critique is that the sound was way too loud. There was no way to lower the volume, but it was such that it didn't sound like it could come from a real cricket. In fact, the person who I pranked even said it sounded like it was coming from a speaker (and not a real cricket). Their first instinct was to check their carbon monoxide detectors because the sound was akin to a chirp you'd expect from that. If the sound was a bit softer and maybe chirped once or twice instead of emitting several seconds of loud "chirping" noises at a time, perhaps my victims would have thought there was a real cricket somewhere. They were able to find it within an hour. We had a good laugh about it, but to spend almost $12 on it was quite ridiculous given that it doesn't sound enough like a real cricket. ... show more
