Description

There’s only one Original Slinky Brand Generations of children and adults have loved playing with Slinky. This classic metal spring toy walks downstairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a slink-ity sound. First invented by mechanical engineer Richard James in 1943 during an experiment with tension coils. James accidentally dropped a spring on the floor and watched as it began to “walk.” Two years later, he introduced his walking spring toy in Gimbels Department Store, and the Slinky immediately sold out. Since its debut, over 300 million Slinkys have been sold worldwide. In 2000, this classic toy was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. Slinky is fun for a girl or a boy ages 5 and up. Everyone loves a Slinky.

Fun to play with. My kids got plastic ones from a birthday party and it brought back memories. I wanted to show them a real one. Happy I did, I fidget with it all the time now. The sound is hypnotically addictive. It’s that same metal color. It’s the original size, I know there are mini ones, this one is not mini, it’s normal. The only thing I would suggest is that you look at the ends and maybe file them down because there are a couple sharp bits from when it was cut on the assembly line. ... show more

The original Slinky! They move and sound just as I remember as a child. My young granddaughters (2 and 4yrs.) were delighted with this toy that can “walk” down stairs. This toy can be bent easily, so users need to treat them gently. (When bent, the spring is nearly impossible to fold back to its tight original form. I highly recommended my sister loved using it, although she bent it a little too far and it was like a little Ben, so just don’t bend it so far but I have recommend this. This is so fun. My 5 year old was having too much fun trying to get the slinky to go down the stairs and jump off the couch. He ended up bending it then it no longer moved the same. He got about 5 minutes play time then had to be thrown out.

A classic! However, I used the slinky as a trellis for my clematis plant. The clematis is able to grip the wire easily as it grows. I wrapped the slinky around a tomato cage. Inexpensive and effective and it makes me smile every time I see another bloom.
