Was leary based on other reviewers complaints about burned toast. Was excited to see there is a cancel button on the unit which prevents burnt toast. It truly depends on the type of bread you're using. For White bread stick with the 1st setting and watch the toast so you can cancel, if need be, when it toasts to your liking. For whole wheat/grain/seed bread use the #3 setting and again, watch the toast so you can cancel if need be. For bagels play around with it. I mean really, if your mindful of what a toaster is and what it does, then this shouldn't give you any problems. It's a solid unit, nice aesthetic, and the price point is decent. This toaster is the perfect look for our camper and makes great toast. The outside does get warm but not hot enough to burn, so I can appreciate that. The cord that comes with this product is only 3 feet long. Way too short. One side of one of the slots toasted a piece of bread darker than the other side ! We felt this was very poor quality control. Thought the instructions lacked coherence. Based on our experience, this product is not good enough to waste your time on. Also, the wires holding the slices of bread got tangled easily. I thought the numbers shown were a poor represent atrion, i.e., 1 to 6. No indication of whether 1 or 6 was darker or lighter. A glaring weakness of this toaster. On the good aspects of this toaster was it was easy to handle the return to Amazon and get a credit for the charges to our credit card. Also, having the buttons on the wide of the toaster was excellent for our needs and breakfast table. Easy to see and use. The red color of the toaster exactly matched our dinette table's color. For a product made in Ontario Canada ( English speaking province ), I would have expected the toaster to be a better product than what it turned out to be in reality. Am I prejudging matters based on a language of the maker of the product? Might be. ... show more
