Wait at least 10 minutes after shutdown before battery testing. The vehicle’s electrical system needs time to discharge, or you may get a reading that’s temporarily too high. Can the positive and negative poles be reversed during battery testing ? No, and you need to connect the positive pole first and then the negative pole, otherwise there may be sparks.
