I wired this pump exactly as it says in the instructions; however, when I turned it on [I verified 120volts prior to wiring] it never reached pressure and began smoking. I rechecked my wiring and verified that it was as directed. So this is simply a defective unit so I am returning it. BTW, in case you didn't notice by my post here, this unit does not come prewired and the access to make connections is not easy at all.

Review of FOTING 1/3HP Swimming Pool Pump, Pool Pump 3000GPH Max.Height 27FT, Self Primming Inground Above Ground Swimming Pool Pumps Quality: Good. All components are well-made and construction is solid. It just has that feeling of a quality product. Impressions: Runs smoothly and quietly. Easy to set up. I've not done more than a test as we're not set up with the final location but I'm encouraged by what I saw. It's actually a bit more flow and power than we need so we may end up doing something else with it altogether. As we get it up and running I'll update if there are any issues. Good value.
