Perfect for making jerky, with 7 racks I was able to do 3 pounds of meat at a time. One thing, if you’re upgrading from something smaller, with this being a higher wattage and moving more air, it works much faster than smaller dehydrators. I over dried my first batch thinking it would take the same length of time at the same temperature setting. I recommend starting at the higher temperature for only an hour, then decreasing the temperature the rest of the time

Got this as a backup to help with the overflow when we do our jerky since sometimes one of these just is not enough. It is nice for a backup, and it seems to work ok, but there is a buzzing sound in the back that just makes me feel like this is not setup for the long haul and I worry about that happening one day and then it goes out. Also it is not very large either, it is about 35% capacity compared to my other one and if I fill them both with the same size meat this one though being the smaller dehydrator tends to take about 60 to 90 minutes longer.

I like the fact that this is made from metal instead of mostly plastic. I've only used it once and on a low heat, 130F. Given that the walls are uninsulated metal, I imagine the outside gets hot when using this on a high temperature and for long periods of time. Also, it's easy to cut yourself on the edges/seams if you aren't careful. There aren't rough edges per say, but there are crisp metal edges on all the seams. Nice recessed handles for lifting the machine, which is fairly light weight. This is a quiet dehydrator. You can hear the fan when it's running but it's quiet enough to ignore. I also have an older model Excaliber and that fan is so loud that I have to operate it in the garage. This new machine will be useful for smaller dehydrating projects and for rainy day projects when I don't want to run between the house and garage to check on the drying progress. Not sure how well this will last as I just set it up today.

This countertop dehydrator came well-packaged and protected in a cardboard box with corner protectors. A+ for packaging and not using unnecessary packing materials. It is well constructed with a glass door with a magnetic latch. There's a light inside which you can turn on and off to see how the process is progressing. The item also comes with a recipe book for making an assortment of dehydrated items. Assembly was simple, only requiring installing a few screws to secure the door latch. Other than that it is ready to go right out of the box. I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. Using the dehydrator is very easy. Simply set the temperature and timer and it does the rest. It operates quietly and makes very little noise. U made apple slices and banana slices my first time out. The apple slices came out perfectly, but the banana slices stuck to the trays. Rookie mistake - you're going to want to use fairly green bananas so that they don't stick to the stainless steel shelving grates (and need to be pried off one by one). The thing that struck me is how little is left after removing the water. Three apples turned into a handful of apple slices! Delicious, but now I understand why they're so expensive in the store. That said, when you make them yourself you know they are chemical free, which is the whole point. I love using this machine, I am very happy to have it, and I can highly recommend it.

This is a great little food dehydrator! The seven stainless steel trays work great to dehydrate a lot of fruit or meat at once. So far so good! It makes great treats for both the family and the dog!
