  • Lightweight and Easy to Travel With – Great Stabilization, but Best for Smaller Camera Setups
🎥 Product Review: DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer ⭐ Rating: 4.6/5 The DJI RS 3 Mini is a really strong option for creators who want smooth footage without carrying a huge, heavy gimbal. Its biggest strengths are portability, solid stabilization, and support for vertical shooting, but most professional reviews also note that it’s best suited for lighter mirrorless setups rather than heavier pro rigs. DJI lists it at about 795g in portrait mode / 850g horizontal with a tested payload of 0.4–2 kg (0.8–4.4 lbs). ✅ What I Like 🔹 Very lightweight and travel-friendly This is one of the biggest reasons people like it. Professional reviewers and DJI both highlight how compact and easy it is to carry compared with larger gimbals, which makes it great for weddings, events, travel shoots, and run-and-gun content. 🔹 Smooth stabilization for mirrorless cameras The RS 3 Mini inherits DJI’s RS-series stabilization approach, and reviewers generally praise it for delivering pro-looking movement for its size class. DJI also positions it as supporting mainstream mirrorless combinations, including setups like a Sony A7S III with a 24–70mm f/2.8 GM. 🔹 Great for content creators and solo shooters Because it’s smaller and easier to handle one-handed, it’s especially useful for YouTube, social media content, event coverage, and quick shoots where a bigger rig would slow you down. That’s a common theme in professional coverage of this model. 🔹 Native vertical shooting support A big plus if you create reels, TikToks, Shorts, or other vertical video. DJI specifically calls out the ability to switch between horizontal and vertical shooting without extra accessories. ⚠️ Things to Consider 🔸 Payload is good, but not for everything DJI rates it for up to 2 kg, but that does not mean every 2 kg setup will feel equally comfortable in real-world use. Professional reviewers tend to frame this as a gimbal that shines with compact mirrorless builds, not bulky cinema-style camera/lens combos. 🔸 Manual axis locks One drawback compared with newer or higher-tier models is that the RS 3 Mini uses manual axis locks, not automated locking. That can make setup and packing a little less convenient. DJI confirms this directly. 🔸 Less “pro convenience” than bigger models This is more of a streamlined, portable gimbal than a fully loaded pro system. That’s part of what makes it great, but it also means some users may eventually want a more advanced model if they move into heavier production work. This is an inference based on DJI’s positioning and reviewer comparisons to larger RS models. 🎯 Best For Mirrorless camera users Wedding and event shooters Travel videographers YouTubers and content creators Anyone who wants a lighter alternative to a full-size gimbal 💡 Final Verdict The DJI RS 3 Mini is one of the best options if you want strong stabilization in a smaller, easier-to-carry package. Its biggest selling point is portability, and the main tradeoff is that it’s better for lighter setups and lacks some premium convenience features like auto axis locks. For a lot of creators, though, that tradeoff is worth it. ... show more

  • Great gimbal for video work!
I purchased this gimbal to pair with my Canon R6 MkIII and a 50mm anamorphic lens for video work. Granted the setup instructions are a bit sparse, it didn't take long to figure it out and get it balanced. The touch screen is a bit small for my fingers but doesn't need to be accessed that often. The little trip base supplied with it is nice but is a bit insufficient when a bigger lens is used. It boasts NATO mounting points for accessories (I have a 7" wide screen monitor on it) which wirk okay, but balancing it and a table can be unpredictable. For the price, this gimbal can't be beat! DJI created a great device that you'll wonder how you never got by without one! Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Amazing
Elevates your video footage and has so much functionality. A bit of a pain to set up and balance but once you understand how to do it then it becomes much easier.

  • Great place to start
Easy to set up, light enough to carry about while hiking. Still learning but this RS3 Mini seems to be a good teacher

  • Complete junk. Roll motor issues 7 months later.
I wanted to love this gimbal, I really did. At first it worked out beautifully and with no issues. But 7 months have gone by and now the roll motor is randomly skipping and stuttering for no apparent reason. I've gone through every method of troubleshooting DJI has released for the device, and have literally exhausted all options. There's either a problem with the servo, or the controller board itself. Just fyi, I have absolutely treated this gimbal like a baby. It's never been outside my house, and when not in use, lives comfortably standing on a solid shelf. No drops, no bonks, no dust, no damage. Not so much as a scratch. Seriously, it looks like it just came out of the box, and has been used maybe 6 or 7 times thus far. I'm not going to even bother to get it repaired, as this has completely turned me off to DJI gimbals from here on out. There's no way I'd trust one for a project after this. I bought a gimbal another from a competitor. SO ticked off at this... ... show more

  • Good travel option
I just received this, so my review is mostly first impressions. I'm also a more casual user than a professional videographer. I will be traveling a bit, and I wanted to get stabilized footage of areas I'll be going to, so when DJI released this, it was super intriguing. I have the original Ronin, which I like, but was considerably more bulky. It was nice when I got it for use with a DSLR, but I have since upgraded to a R5. This was advertised to work with a R5 and 24-70mm f/2.8. Despite that, all of the initial reviews seem to be with Sony cameras, which doesn't tell me much about its compatibility with my R5. One of the things I really like about this is the capability to lock the pan/tilt/roll axes, which means you can balance each individually. I didn't have this in the original Ronin, so this makes life so much easier. That being said, the R5 is bulkier than the Sony cameras, and I have to push the roll axis, in particular, to its limit in order to balance it. But according to the app, it's balanced. It generally works with the screen flipped out, but I don't think it's as happy about that. I will probably have to remove the viewfinder eye cup because it can catch on the RS3 Mini when I invert the gimbal. I will be getting a RODE VideoMic NTG which I would like to mount on the camera. I think it should work fine, but it'll probably limit some of the movement I can do. I tried connecting via bluetooth to this, and while after a little bit a wait, it connected to the camera. I like this particular feature because it gets rid of wires. However, I was not able to get it to record or adjust focus by pressing the record button or dial on the RS3 Mini. Maybe that's an R5 issue? Fixed with a firmware update? The included USB-C to USB-C cable allows for control of the camera. It's not super obtrusive, so if that's the option I have to live with, I'm okay with that. I really like how light this is. It will be great for travel. It would be nice to have the battery grip removable so that you can really compact this down, but I imagine that would add weight. I haven't tried it in its native vertical shooting. Not sure how much I will do with that, to be honest, but I suppose it's a nice option to have should I want to use it. Those are my first impressions. It's a nice little gimbal for a reasonable price. I think it'll serve well in a travel situation to get stabilized video. Maybe there will be some changes for the RS4 Mini, but for now, I'm happy with this. ... show more

  • Affordable and durable mini gimbal. Affordable and durable mini gimbal.
I couldn’t ask for anything more affordable and durable, this gimbal has improved my videography work tremendously and I plan. The battery life last almost a whole day, it’s easily adjustable. It is quite heavy after long use, it’s as if it’s compatible with any camera especially my canon M50 or any device (I will try my phone lol). ... show more
