I used this for several hours today, somewhat of a learning curve. I ended up setting the gas bottle to barely on and the torch knob to also barely open. I used the sound of the gas when I pulled the trigger to adjust down to a mere whisper for lighting. I also experimented with opening the two knobs and listening to the resulting sound. For me it was always bottle at a minimum setting and the handle knob to increase or decrease for what I needed. I also had a helper to control the gas bottle setting. Note that at one point I ran out of gas (flame throwers seem to be hungry) and I thought the torch might be broken. New tank, no problem!

This is a big boy torch. It's loud, hot and cool! I'll be using it to control weeds from now on. Once you get used to how it works, you can aim it just so and burn weeds without destroying the grassline. It actually edged the grass at the concrete edge. The gas control is a little wonky but after a bit of use, it works okay. Don't forget to shut off the gas at the tank or you may find a tiny gas leak drained all your gas in storage. Don't even think about using a small container. You will need a gas grill type of propane tank for this bad boy. The tank gets quite cool as you use it. That gives an indication of just how much gas you are using. But who cares!

This was the top rated weed burner by the Amazon panel of experts. It works but has some issues. The biggest drawback is trying to keep the standby flame lit. It stays lit for several minutes of operation then goes out, Usually on shut down after a high burn rate. The main burner control lever is really touchy and goes from off to full burn in just a few degrees of lever action. Not being able to step down the burn rate I think is what snuffs out the standby pilot flame. There are no real detailed instructions provide, just some very generic stuff. After several hours use and fiddling with adjust the propane pressure at the tank and the main valve on the weed burner I was unable to find a setting that would permit continuous use with the pilot flame going out every minute of less. If you purchase this, it comes with one spark ignitor but you better buy two more as you will find yourself using it all the time. Yes it burns the weeds but at full blast it also blows them away like a jet engine. Anything dead and dry nearby will ignite long before the green weeds will be killed so be aware,

This thing will have you singing, COME ON BABY LIGHT MY FIRE! LOVE the plastic wing nut incorporated into the connector. Makes it a tool-less connector. I'll use it this spring and summer to burn weeds, but for now it will be used to start the fire in my smoker. It quickly lit oak and hickory wood reducing the time needed to bring my smoker up to the 225° range.

This thing is great! It does what it is supposed to do and is extremely easy to hook up and use. Like another review said, respect the heat this thing gives off. It will catch your stuff on fire if you aren’t careful. Have someone with a garden hose follow you around just in case. Don’t use it near your house or a fence unless you soak it first. Good for gravel or stone areas with weeds. We have a big patch of quarter minus in our back yard for a patio and pergola area. It came up with more weeds over the winter than we could deal with. About 15 mins with this torch and I came out the next day and they were all dead. Totally awesome. No poison, no backbreaking digging, just a flame-throwing good time!

This thing is great! After getting over the fear of burning down my home (and neighborhood) by using this, I found that it quickly eradicates weeds, especially large patches. We only used it yesterday but it absolutely disintegrated the small stuff. The larger stuff we are supposed to wait a few days and see...apparently it decomposes quickly and we can just wash it away. There is already a big difference from when we burned it yesterday morning to today. And if it takes a second round to finish the job...well that's fine. It's pretty fun to use.
