Very happy with the Gold Bug Pro so far! Instructions are a lot easier to get started compared to my Garrett AT Gold. Very lite weight. I was disappointed after spending $800, there was no packaging to protect the detector and parts were lose inside the box. A bit expensive, by time you ship to Canada ! A good quality set of headphones and a Double DD coil supplied would be nice! But a great starter detector! Actually far easier to get started with than my Garret AT Gold. AT GOLD is great as well - both great units- highly recommend both. AT Gold is waterproof. I did upgrade the search coil to a 11" DETECH ULTIMATE coil and this coil works great for deep searching and covering more territory!

My Fisher Gold Bug Pro was for some reason NOT shipped in its Original Factory Box. It was placed in a plain box with NO packaging material. This allowed parts to move freely in the box during shipping. Assembly was difficult as the one of the flanges for the rod to search coil was bent inwards. I used pliers to bend it back, but still, placing the bolt through the flange holes was a pain to line up. I'd have preferred that my Fisher Gold Bug Pro had been shipped in its original factory box nicely packed. I paid $549.47 I would have expected better packaging.

This detector works well in highly mineralized soils like we have here in California. I will be taking it out to gold country soon to give it a spin on some nugget shooting. Overall it works well and the iron discrimination is much better than expected. Although you do not get as much depth with the 5" coil it comes with, that thing sure is sensitive! The auto ground balance is really convenient (as well as the manual ground balance) and it also has a "pin point" feature that tells you the exact location and depth of the item you've found. I will update after my gold trip!

This is a great piece of equipment. The manual helped me to learn how to use it properly and quickly, and I found my wife's lost wedding and engagement gold rings in our lake below 2 inches of muck and sand sediment. Money well spent!! I can't wait to go gold nugget hunting.

I watched Youtube to determine which was the best Metal Detector for your money this one kept coming up so i watched videos on this specific detector. It is as advertised had it set up within minutes found a Quarter a Penny and a Subway Token in less than 20 min in my backyard. I went to the neighborhood beach and volley ball court was very pleased with the results. I would recommend the Gold Bug Pro to anyone.
