After lengthy research into what metal detector to buy as a first time hobbyist, I first decided on the slightly cheaper F22 but then decided that the extra features of the F44 were worth it. It arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. The positive features of this product far outweigh any negative qualities and I have been extremely happy with it so far. The larger search coil makes finding things much quicker and was the main reason I chose this detector. If you are interested in finding items faster, it's well worth it. The pinpoint feature works pretty well, but not amazingly. It definitely gives you a clearer idea of where to look, but there's usually still a good amount of searching around. The depth that the detector searches is very good, and seems to be a maximum of about 14 inches or so, although most everything found so far has been within a few inches of the surface. Sensitivity overall is great and can detect even very small things. I really like the different search modes and the ability to adjust sensitivity easily. That all being said, I think if you are just stating out and you just want to see whether you like metal detecting or you just want to have a few hours of fun every now and then, go with the slightly cheaper option. If you are really interested in searching regularly and want something well built and reliable, with some extra features, this product will be a great choice. ... show more

It is very light and easy to assemble. It is difficult to interpret signals and determine the type of metals. Also it not very specific in locating the find so more then expected digging is required.

Got it for Christmas. Used it with 11 year old nephew. We loved it. We found oodles if coins in my parents’ lawn and at the park. None of the coins were old. But it is such joy to find something of value. We used the coin setting. Great that you can tell it to disregard steel/iron to avoid wasting time on trash. I definitely needed to be able to calibrate the mineral level in the different soils I was searching in. Big differences. Liked being able to know the depth I had to dig before digging. I still need to get better at recognizing what the conductivity numbers may be telling me in terms of what the item might be. ... show more

I am a beginner, and this is not easy for me to use!! The arm rest in too long for me, and the screen could stand to be a bit bigger! Again I’m just learning!!! Very happy with this detector. Easy to use, like the ability to set up custom mode, with notches and and assignable tones for various targets. TID numbers and depth displays were accurate. Found silver dimes at 7" , silver quarters at 10" . Would definitely recommend.
