I don't normally write reviews but this product deserves one. Up until now I was using the inexpensive "triangle brush type" vacuum heads and after two broke at the pole mount I gave this one a try. I can honestly say this unit is fantastic. My pool bottom was covered in dead algae and silt from the opening and this head did the job. The weighted feature and the wheels kept the head down and in an hour I was able to clean up the bottom. It's a quality product and a great value. I bought this pool vacuum head to use on my inground pool, and it has worked out great so far. It fit my standard pool pole perfectly right out of the box, exactly as stated in the product description, with no attachment issues or loose fitting. A huge standout feature for me is the metal attachment point for the pole—it is so much better and vastly superior to the cheap plastic connections you see on other vacuum heads, which tend to snap under pressure. The weight design on this unit is excellent. It has a nice, heavy weight to it that naturally keeps it firmly planted on the pool floor, yet it remains incredibly easy to maneuver and control through the water without floating up. It rolls very smoothly along the bottom surface, making the cleaning process take much less effort. During my first use, it handled everything flawlessly, rolling easily over the pool surface to remove everything from larger leaves and debris to vacuuming out dirty water straight to waste as it should. Even though I have only used it once so far, the initial performance and solid build quality give me a lot of confidence. Bought this about 3 years ago and it’s held up pretty well with no signs of rust or cracking. The only failure is the chrome electroplate on the metal is flaking off.

The review is based on product quality which is top notch. I looked at a similar design from the big box home improvement store and it was so poorly made compared to this one. This vacuum head is heavy to go right to the bottom, strongly made, and has quality wheels with ball bearings like a little skateboard wheel. It rolls easily over my vinyl pool bottom. It is good at picking up LOOSE small leaves and general dirt or worms and such that accumulates over winter. DRAWBACK: I am returning this product because it is not designed for algae/green scum from winter. It basically gets none of the algae that is attached to the pool liner. This is a deal breaker for me, I need a vacuum head with some bristles, as the algae is still on my liner. I wish other reviews had made this clear (or I had read more of them). The design is also not good for walls of a pool as the weight of the head makes it tough to keep along the wall, and walls rarely have loose dirt/leaves on them anyway. This drawback is not the “fault” of this product, it is just a design style, so beware of your needs when purchasing. ... show more

I’ve had an ongoing swimming pool for quite a few years, and this vacuum head is the best I have ever used. I recently upgraded my filter pump and filter and I have a lot of suction coming through my vacuum hose. My old vacuum head stuck, by suction, on the bottom of the pool and broke. This vacuum head with wheels works perfectly, I use it to vacuum Algae out to waste. It is simple in design and easily moves when vacuuming. I am very pleased with this purchase. I just received this today, & am leaving a review already...and I don't leave many reviews (and no, I'm not getting compensated for this in any way). My 18' round above-ground pool is 7 years old. In that time, I've had the garbage triangle vacuum head it came with, a robotic cleaner (also garbage, waste of $300), and another manual head - https://www.amazon.com/Poolmaster-Relief-Vinyl-Swimming-Vacuum/dp/B006H4CLA0 - that worked...okay. Over 7 years, the sand base under the pool has settled some, leaving a few uneven spots on one side of the pool where dirt (I live near an industrial area) and sand, (now that I finally ditched the original cartridge filter for sand) settle lower than the rest of the pool floor. With the previous vacuum head, I had to kind of angle and scrub in the dips to get the particles up because I could never get quite enough suction. Often when I DID scrub (or even just push slowly), I could SEE the particles getting lifted and dispersed in the water, only to settle hours later...likely in the same spot. Well, today I vacuumed with this one, & what a world of difference. The weight is perfect, the ball-bearing wheels were a GREAT idea (I did take a Phillips screwdriver and tighten them all before use, as other reviews suggested), and the thing sucks up dirt instead of kicking it out into the water. For those dips I mentioned earlier, I simply held the hose opening right over dips for 2-3 seconds each, and got everything out...no kickups, and I could see particles getting sucked up from inches away. For the "corner" where the floor meets the wall, I simply did the same, holding the head the "wide" way near the wall...sucked up everything. I'll update this if after a few uses it doesn't hold up, or doesn't perform as well as I expected. But I searched through reviews & answers for "Can this be used with a vinyl liner/above ground pool?" The answer is absolutely, and it beats anything else I've used in 7 years. I saw no sharp edges that would damage my liner, and the wheels are perfectly smooth. And it's good at what it's supposed to do. I'd recommend it for vinyl without hesitation. Hopefully this review will help some people who, like me, were debating its effectiveness or the danger of vacuuming and waking up the next day with half your pool water flooding the yard from a sliced liner. I have had two homes in New York and Florida with pools that I have done the maintenance on. In the 40 years that I have done this I have gone through lots of equipment and this is the best vacuum head I've ever had. It has always seemed awkward trying to keep the head against the bottom of the pool, particularly in the deep end where there is a lack of leverage. This vacuum head is heavy and it stays against the bottom on its own, making the cleaning job much more efficient. I love it. ... show more

After 4 attempts with flocculant and a traditional pool vac and still having tons of algae dust in the water and settling to the bottom, I tried this vacuum head. The brushes on the traditional triangle vac did nothing but stir up the dust before it even got a chance to vacuum. I considered taking the vac head off and sucking up the crud with the hose but too hard to control. I found this in an on line article on how to remove algae dust so decided to try it. It still stirs up some dust but not nearly as much as the old vac. I was able to vacuum my 18 foot above ground pool without the water level going beneath the skimmer. I will have to add water and let it sit probably a couple more times with additional flocculant but at least I am finally making some progress. I hate algae! ... show more
