Description

Inspired by the beach community on Catalina Island in Southern California, the Avalon tenor ukulele is the larger sibling to our incredibly popular Venice soprano model. A tenor ukulele gives the player a deeper tonal register than a concert or soprano body size, while still maintaining the portability to travel easily from the beach to the studio or jam room. The Avalons all- basswood construction and slim "C"-shaped neck profile, provide the superior tone and playability that is a hallmark of Fender ukuleles. Other features include a no-tie bridge for quick, easy string changes, classic Fender color options and painted 4-in-line Strat headstock. With the Avalon ukulele, you can be transported to your own island no matter where you are.

  • My Fender Avalon as a baritone uke
Color: Surf Green Size: Tenor
I bought the green Fender Avalon. Great looking tenor uke. I'm primarily a guitar player but also play 3 string cigar box guitars tuned GDG. I like the head stock design with all the strings in a row on one side. So, when you replace the strings, they all go on the same way. I got a great deal on this. I decided that the standard tenor "reentrant" tuning wasn't for me. I decided to convert the Avalon to a baritone, meaning tuned DGBE. That tuning is the same as a six string guitar minus the low E and A strings. Much easier for me to relate to that tuning. I used the Aquila #96C set of strings, and they went on fine and sound good. I'm okay with the 17" scale, which is the same size as my Yamaha GL-1 guitelele. Anything tighter than that is a no go for me. I actually use a slide on the Avalon too. Thinking of putting a stick on piezo pickup on it. The only negatives are, no strap pins, and the fact that this comes with literally nothing. No case, tuner, strap, cleaning cloth, extra strings, etc. Also the finger board came super dry. Applied some lemon oil, and a drop or two of 3 in 1 oil to the tuner gears. Cool looking uke, sounds good, and plays well. I have a couple Fender solid body electric guitars too. After spending time playing this, and trying to get familiar with 2/3 of a guitar, I am enjoying the little bugger very much. I'd like to get either a tenor with pickup and EQ and a cutout, or a baritone. Since I converted my Avalon to a baritone, I can see a baritone uke is fun to play. But, I think I'll keep this Avalon. Just ordered a decent bag to keep it. Basswood is pretty bottom of the line. It's nice to have a compact 4 string blues machine though. ... show more

  • Amazing color and quality minus the strings
Color: Daphne Blue Size: Soprano
Amazing ukulele! It is so much fun to play! I bought it for my daughter and we have both really loved learning how to play. I will be buying nicer strings though. It didn’t hold a tune well the first few days but it’s tightened up and holds better now. Has a fun sweet sound! The color and feel are fantastic ... show more

  • Surprised by the quality
Color: 2-Color Sunburst Size: Tenor
I play guitar and my younger sister who has dwarfism really wanted to learn to play guitar like her older brother. However, there was no chance her hands would fit so I bought this for me and a smaller ukulele for her so I could use this one to teach her I Used to play ukulele so it wasn’t that hard to pick back up this thing very good and is definitely good quality I love the fender styling, and the Stratocaster style headstock the tuners Work as well as the tuners on my actual Stratocaster I think it’s a very well worth of money and sounds really nice for a ukulele. I find myself picking it up just playing Even when I’m not trying to teach, it’s definitely worth it ... show more

  • Nice looking design
Color: Surf Green Size: Tenor
It’s a nice looking ukulele. I have one fret that needs to be filed lower. It buzzes on any chords around the third fret. Nothing that I can’t take care of. Action is kinda high, hoping to fix that. This was a discounted open box ukulele so I expected some problems. Nothing too serious though. it does sound good ... show more

  • Item Order.
Color: 2-Color Sunburst Size: Tenor
The item was what I expected with no problem except for the long delay for it to get delivered but that was an UPS issue.

  • Beautiful and sounds great
I got the surf green one. It's beautiful and sounds great. Initially, it might not stay in tune, but I tuned it every day, and it became more stable and finally settled within a couple of days.

  • WHAT HAPPENED TO FENDER?
Color: Daphne Blue Size: Soprano
If I could give this a zero I would. The quality is so poor that you can visually see all of the little defects, such a disappointment for such an iconic American company. It won’t even tune properly, have to bring it to a professional to put on quality hardware that will.
