I have sewn professionally for over 40 years and had recently retired, but needed a new sewing machine for basic use. This machine works well: easy to use, bright lighted area around needle and light weight to carry. The only downside I have experienced is that it smells plastic like. When using the machine it emits a noxious plastic odor that makes my eyes water and nose sneeze continuously. I hope this goes away after some usage. I bought a small beginners machine a few months ago, it was not very strong or durable. It has been 30 years or so since I did and machine sewing, but I could tell me and that other machine were not going to get along. I bought this one and it was sturdy, easy to use, and not too terribly large. I highly recommend it so far, if my opinion changes I will update. I bought this machine because of the reviews. I decided to make a bag using it. It went ok at first until it got stuck on a nylon zipper and started beeping that it was having trouble. . I've sewn hundreds of zippers. I've sold hundreds of my bags. No machine should ever get stuck on a zipper or a layer of cotton fabric and interfacing. I sent the machine back. ... show more

It’s an easy sewing machine to work with. It’s very basic, but I like it because it’s heavy duty it’s sturdy, and I immediately within an hour of receiving it had already started hemming curtains, which turned out beautiful.

Don't even ask! I've had this machine for Four days: haven't stich one stich because of threader! Iveven tried manual threading but I can't see (even with a magnifying glass!) To get it threaded.     • Not a bad machine for a low price

If you can get this for a relatively low price, and if you just need something to sew a few projects once in a while, this machine is ok. It’s not as bad as I thought it might be, since it was pretty cheap. The plastic feels cheap, but it’s not breaking, so I guess it’s ok. The side arm casement was sitting in the wrong place on my machine and blocked the slot the thread should go in. This caused some issues until I could adjust the piece of the casing into a better place. It’s still a smaller than normal slot to get the thread in. I never like it when the side arm compartment casement doesn’t open, and this one doesn’t open, so that’s a disappointment. But, not all machines have that feature so I wouldn’t dock stars for that. (I like to be able to go in and clean and lubricate the mechanisms in there, when they build up lint and things.) I was surprised at how powerfully this machine stitches. I definitely expected less power from a cheap machine. I was able to sew through about 4 layers of thicker velvet plus a layer or two of canvas, without much problem. So, that is good. I do feel that the pedal is very sensitive. The machine goes from 0 to super fast really easily. That took some getting used to, and I’ve been sewing for many, many years. Maybe it’s just the certain machine I got, or maybe it’s all of this model. I don’t know. I think the extreme sensitivity could be a challenge for people just learning how to sew. Be sure and keep fingers out of the way because there isn’t a lot of time to respond and get them out of the way if there’s an issue! The manual is a little confusing in some parts. The dials are not totally intuitive. But I was able to use several settings when sewing my project, without a problem. There weren’t any weird stitch issues or glitches when switching back and forth between stitch length and stitch type. The reverse feature worked without issue. Is it the best machine out there - no. But it is inexpensive. Will it sew some things ok - yes. If you can only spend a small amount on a sewing machine, this may be a great option! If you can spend more, I would spend more and get a different one. I prefer many of the somewhat more expensive name brand machines over this one. But again, it’s not as bad as I expected, and it can sew many layers of fabric, as it advertises! So that’s good. ... show more
