I needed a big saw to maximize my firewood gathering to include trunk logs of big oak trees. Hated leaving trunks, and my smaller 18" stihl couldn't handle them. Took the chance on this beast w 25" bar, and so far(2 tanks of 30/1 fuel @ half throttle for break in) i am very happy. It starts right up everytime, warms easily, and at break in use cuts hard a#$ed red and white oak like warm butter. Planning a 36" bar & chain later for milling use. Even if it holds up for long term, can't give it 5 stars due to obvious "low price clone" issues, like no assembly instructions(figured it out, and all screws/parts were included), out of box carburetor adjustment needed(idled too high, easy fix), silly paper stickers on plastic casing that fell off during cleaning after 1st use. I highly recommend this saw for anyone who knows saws and how to care for them, needs a big one on a budget, and isn't bothered by the idea of a oriental clone of American quality(even the manual is a direct clone of Stihl 660, with all references to the word "Stihl" being white outed). Sure can't beat the value, and as stated, time will tell.

this is a great saw, it has a lot of power, a little slow starting when cold, but after being started it lights back up with one pull. I would buy it again, and I would tell others to buy it.. It is well worth the money.

saw is very powerful . always have to pull plug and heat it on first start of day, floods on 1 pull with choke on . have used about a gallon of fuel, had problems with chain brake not staying un locked .

UPDATE: While I remain very impressed by the chainsaw's power, having used it for a few months, some of its shortcomings are becoming evident. The first is the bumper spikes. The screws holding the spikes routinely vibrate loose such that I have had the bumper fall off. I replaced the screws (since those that fell off were lost) and used a lockwasher to keep the screws from vibrating loose. That didn't work. I just purchased some Loctite Threadlocker with the hope that the screws stay tight. I took the saw out to test the Threadlocker, but was unable to start the saw because the pull cord broke. I am not a big or particularly strong man. At 65 years of age, it wasn't my brute strength that broke the cord. I think the cord is weak. Anyway, now I have to disassemble the saw and see about repairing or replacing the cord. It's a nice saw, but it has some problems. --- original post --- The Holzfforma is my eighth chainsaw. My others are in the 2.5 HP range, the largest being a Husqvarna 455 Rancher. Some of the trees I cut are large diameter, and all are tall - 60-70 feet. I have found that with my old saws, I'd have to "baby" them so that the chain wouldn't stop turning during a cut. A neighbor let me use his 5 HP saw once and it made a huge difference. Thus my interest in a high HP machine. To be honest, I had a really hard time starting the Holzfforma the first time and ended up taking it to a local small engine shop for assistance. The seller was nice enough to send me a "gift" for my troubles (thanks Mike & Chris!). I have used the saw on several occasions and I have to tell you, this thing is a 7 HP beast! Just watching the steady stream of chips flying from the saw is a thing of beauty. It's amazing how quickly it cuts through logs. What would usually take 5-10 minutes to cut with my other saws is now easily done in less than 30 seconds. Seriously. That additional HP makes the cut easily 10X faster. Count me very impressed!
