Getting the top off to refill and back on after is a little tricky. I put a stick in the top to help loosen it. Putting back on be sure to tighten enough but it doesnโ€™t have To be screwed all the way down, just enough to seat the gasket. I purchased three of these two 5gal and one 7 gal all worked great. However as you see from pic the 7 gal waterer lid broke. (Not from abuse) it was probably from shear weight of filling it and carrying back to water spot. Itโ€™s extremely heavy and a lot of force is put on that plastic handle. I recommend leaving in one location and filling there rather then carrying it. Of course the warranty is out by one month. I would be willing to by a new lid if I can find the manufacture. ... show more

Nice to be able to have 5 gallons of water so I donโ€™t have to carry water every day to water the chickens, cap the bottom with the supplied cap, fill it up, set it weโ€™re you want it unscrew the cap and screw it on the top place to store it till next time
