  • Cooking Faster with Farberware Classic Stainless Steel Cookware
I purchased this Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 15-Piece Cookware Set set to avoid the formation of metal- or enamel-based discoloration on my new smooth-top range, for which aluminum, copper or enameled pans pose a risk of transfer. Upon first impression the mirror finished exterior and bell-shaped stainless steel lids are just as much art as function (a rarity in a cookware field dominated by utilitarian design aesthetics). The good news? This cookware is nicely weighted — meaning not too heavy. (Opting for premium priced cookware, besides cost, would have also meant added heft, which in turn may increase the risk of cracking a smooth cooktop.) Better yet, these Faberware Classic pots and pans heat much better than my previous copper-bottom cookware thanks to a weighted, flat base in which an aluminum core is used. One thing to note, to buyers who may also purchase this cookware for use on a smooth cooktop, involves the unsuitability of the skillets. Contrary to the description, the skillets are aluminum minus the stainless steel cladding. Moreover, it's not even clear if the nonstick coating is PFOA-free because the included literature doesn't say one way or the other. (I do wish Farberware would be clearer on this point. Meanwhile, I have suggested to Amazon that they correct their product description to state that the skillets in these sets are, in fact, aluminum.) When accounting for the fact that I will have to replace the skillets in this 15-piece set — and had no need of the utensils it ships with — the value isn't quite as good. (As a suggestion to the manufacturer, they ought to substitute the nonstick aluminum skillets in these sets for their stainless Classic skillet 8" and 10" counterparts, which are sold separately.) In summary, the strong point, aside from the attractive retro styling, is the evenness of the cooking. The weak point is that the interior stainless has begun to discolor/haze inside of every pan I've used over the past week — including a stock pot that was used thus far for nothing more than steaming! While discoloration may be inevitable with long-term heavy use, it should not be characteristic of 18/10 stainless to discolor upon first use! If I had to guess, this downside is a product of two things: 1) the interiors consist of brushed stainless, which likely supplies more surface area for heat/food stains to bind/form, and 2) Chinese-manufacturing, to which I would suggest that all-American corporations, such as Farberware, ought to consider manufacturing stateside. (Given the generous corporate tax cuts and the tariffs that are about to hit Chinese steel, USA-made Classic cookware should not be a pipe dream!) On a final note, I did have an issue with one saucepan handle slightly loose but that was easily remedied by a Phillips-head screwdriver. All-in-all I would say that if you intend on hanging up your pots and pans this set may end up being a pain to keep in as-new condition — short of frequent use of Barkeeper's Friend. On the other hand, if you value even heating and classic styling and plan on keeping it in a cupboard when not in use, it's a worthy choice. ... show more

  • Horrible quality, nothing like the good old pots and pans.
After having my current set of Faberwear for over 25 years they were finally warping and needed to be replaced. Of course I wanted to replace them with the same exact set that had lasted forever. I had read other reviews that warned me they were nothing like the good ol’ Faberware from days of old. Well, I should have listened. After one use, one pot had little orange rust spots all over the place. I thought “oh boy, I should have listened to the reviews.” , but I continued on with them. When I took the pot I had used a total of THREE times out of the dishwasher , I was horrified with the dark brown, black large rust marks all over the place. Time to send them back. The frying pan used ONCE also lost all of its finish and had a weird rainbow looking glaze color all over it. I’m not sure of the science there but all I can think of when I look at it is the rainbow marking that you will see when gasoline is on the ground. Eeww! Thankfully the final straw washing happened before the 30 days had passed so I sent them back for a refund. It is so sad how all of these quality companies are forgoing quality and replacing it with junk for the same ( or higher) retail price. ... show more

  • I have ordered dozens of things from Amazon and am pretty well satisfied but these pots and pans are ridiculous
I do not believe this is real Farberware. I believe it is a fake as the attached pictures will show. I need a prepaid return label. The finish is completely worn off the skillets. The pots are pitted. I will also attach a pot I have had for over 30 years. It looks new. I have ordered dozens of things from Amazon and am pretty well satisfied but these pots and pans are ridiculous. The 5th pan from the last is over 30 years old - no pits, no spots, no wearing of finish. I need a return label sent to my email. ... show more

  • Simply the Best Pots and Pans at Any Price
Don't let the low price of these pots and pans fool you-they are by far the best you can buy! I owned a set for 40+ years and on a whim, walking through a department store, was seduced by a shiny set of copper-bottomed pots and pans. I gave my old set of Farberware to charity and bought the new copper-bottomed pans. They were truly the worst pots and pans ever! They had rounded sides which made it hard to stir things and because of the thick bottoms took forever to heat. I boiled water in the 3 qt. and it took 40 minutes! I came to Amazon, re-ordered these tried and true Farberware pans and couldn't be happier. Boiled water-5 min. Do yourself a favor and own a set of these great pots and pans! ... show more

  • Don’t waste your money!!!!!
I bought these thinking Farberware was excellent quality, that is SO not true anymore! I had the 8 qt pan with pits all over it by July, I purchased in May! I returned it to the company ( Farberware) and now the replacement pit and my 4 qt pot is also putting! I am returning them! Totally dissatisfied! It’s so sad quality is forfeited these days! ... show more

  • The handles burn and catch fire
Every time I use these pots and pans on my gas stove I smell a burning plastic smell. I was just boiling water and smelled that same smell turned around and the handle was on fire! I did not have the heat too high for the pan either! Wouldn’t purchase this ever again!

  • Handles of the pans get hot!
I bought this Faberware set for my daughter as a shower shift. She always loved the look. She has been cooking with them and has experienced that the handles get hot. Her aunt never complained that the handles get hot when using! Disappointed because of the handles get hot and how she admired her Godmother’s set and something I thought she would use for a lifetime was a waste of money! ... show more

  • Excellent cookware
I am updating my review on the farberware classic. They are easy to clean, if you want to keep them shiny, I suggest bar keepers friend, I tried Cuisinart classic cookware and stone and beam cookware, but always came back to the farberware classic, they cook evenly, and can go in the oven, they also have a lifetime warranty on them. I have added peices to my set, I have the 15 peice set, two 12 inch pans, a 10 inch pan, a 6 qt pot and I replaced the nonstick skillet with a stainless steel one. I highly recommend this cookware set, and it looks fantastic on my 1965 fridgidare flair stove. ... show more
