  • These aren't pillows
Size: 9 Color: Green
Contrary to 'the most comfortable boot evar!' comments these boots are pretty firm and supportive with a 3/4 hard and stiff sole. This allows a mostly stiff footbed with toe articulation(flex). Built much like the Nepals I owned 20 or more years ago but with way more flex in the toes and rockers at the heel and toe. You can actually walk easily in these while the Nepal is more of a pure alpine boot. I remember my Nepals weren't uncomfortable but not exactly pillowy. I wore them to the office and clomped around in them for 2 weeks for slogging up Shasta. This fit is similar minus the clomping. These are real boots with thick leather that needs to wear in a bit to soften up with good toe room and a reasonably snug heal. I'll wear them indoors for a couple of weeks before committing to them. I wear a size 8.5 and sometimes 9. I ordered these in 9 and have room for a footbed without having to worry about squeezing my feet. I absolutely love the lacing system ... show more

Size: 11 Color: Green
Well this boot came early and right out of the box you can tell it is well made and ready for the desert hike. Supper craftsmanship!! Regrettably I had to return the boots, they are built for a more narrow foot formation. even when I ordered them a hole size larger. I wear 43.5 and when I 44.5 they fit well and comfortable enough to wear around as a daily shoe, but anyone that has done serious hiking ( the reason your buying this shoe ) knows that your feet swell. After about 5 or six mile of a 15 mile hike with a 38 pound pack my feet will swell and the shoes will no longer be comfortable, they will be crippling. This boot doesn't have a water proof Gortex linear, and it probably ideal for desert hiking in more dry climates or say minimal river and water crossing or have some good gators and water proofing rub to put on them. I hiked the the Camino in Spain last year and there is enough rain and water that this boot would not have been my choice, rather I walked the path in my Asolo 520s. ... show more

  • simply the best you can buy, last pair lasted 15 years and kinda still going
Size: 12.5 Color: Green
I've had a pair of Makalu's for 15 years, and loved them, but I have beaten them to death and while they are still wearable they look pretty ugly. So, I considered another pair, but the Karakoram just looked too damn cool and I couldn't pass them up. I've only had them for a couple of weeks but I can already tell they will break in just great. While I'm not a world class climber or adventurer I do climb around in Joshua Tree etc. and these will be perfect. For anyone who still thinks that a pair or Merrill's or god forbid high-tech boots are good, you just have no idea until you really get the best and LaSportiva is just that, the best. They take a long time to break in but it's well worth the journey, give yourself at least a couple of months for break in, wearing them every few days and you will never look back. For a person like me with flat feet, I do have to wear them with an orthotic, but they work just fine in these boots. If you hike or climb don't bother with anything else get these get the Makalu's but if you love yourself you will buy LaSportiva. ... show more

  • Worth the money.
Size: 8.5 Color: Green
I mainly purchased these for their quality as well as their looks. I would use them for real ridge hiking maybe twice a year, but sometimes I'll just wear them with a nice pair of jeans for cold weather days. As soon as I pulled them out of the box I could see the huge quality difference between these and my old Bears that they are replacing. Bears are still great but the Karakorums look like they could survive a bomb blast. The Vibram soles look indestructible. I can't wait for some real snow to test them out. I'm normally a USA size 7 1/2 to 8 and read that you should order a half size larger. I chose size 41 because they are closest to USA size 8 1/2. Tried them on with the socks I normally wear and bulls eye, perfect fit. Color is true to what I saw on the Amazon site, more olive than green which actually works better, you don't wanna be the guy walking around the street with green boots. Just got them; have yet to put them through the paces but right out of the box they are nice. ... show more

  • Order a half or whole size up.
Size: 11.5 Color: Green
I purchased these because they are almost the only boot available in a plain color without Gore-Tex. Comfortable boots once once you find your size. I am reliably a size 11us, ordered a 11.5 and found them to be too small. 12 fits great.

  • Beautiful boot
Size: 10.5-11 Color: Green
I am comparing these to my previous boot. I had a pair of Zamberland boots that I hiked glaciers in Montana. I hiked the Continental divide. I hiked parts of the Appalachian trail. I hiked in Waterton Park Canada. I hiked in the mountains of Mexico and I wore those boots everyday for work. I figured I would try another pair of fine Italian boots. For starters, why are they not waterproof for the price? Second, once you wax them the color changes, and not for the better. I really do like the fit and finish of these boots and hope they last and keep my feet dry. ... show more
