20230908: Ordered this device despite higher price point after reading reviews of lower priced devices. I consider this an investment in health maintenance. Had the device for 2 weeks now. This review is less about the efficacy of shockwave treatments but rather the unit itself. I have had 9 previous shockwave sessions at a podiatrist after an ankle injury so I knew what the treatments did and felt like. For a DIY home device this unit mimics the medical professional device remarkably well at a much lower price point. I treated chronic shoulder pain which seems to be caused by an impacted nerve which started after golf swings about 5 years ago. After 2nd treatment with default 'shoulder' settings, shoulder feels much better - I am debating if pain is actually gone. Still continuing weekly treatments for good measure. I am also treating my ankle injury which seems to be very persistent. Time will tell if we can finally fix it. I keep oiling the bullet lightly before every session to reduce wear. Overall I like the device a lot - we even tried cellulite mode for the wife. Will have to see how that progresses. I originally was quite obsessed about 8 bar max capability and 21 Hz frequency. Turns out that most treatments happen around 10-12 Hz and the max I used was 4 bar on healthier tissue. On my ankle injury I had to take down to 2 bar since otherwise was too intense. While the manual is slightly bumpy it's clear enough to understand the functionality of the device plus the on-screen menus are pretty clear. I'll try to update in half a year on durability but so far the device makes a great impression. ... show more

    • Use a .22 pistol cleaning kit with patch to clean the bore of the "gun"
Purchased for DYI ED treatments. On initial test, the unit didn't work. I could hear the pump running and the pulsing of the air flow but the pellet was stuck in the bore of the gun. I removed the head and tried to dislodge the pellet by tapping the gun on a hard surface but no luck, so I turned on the power and set the pressure to 3 or 4 and pointed the gun down into a folded rag. Triggered the unit and POP the pellet shot out into the rag. CAUTION: NEVER look into the barrel with the unit turned on. If you accidentally shoot the pellet into your face you will almost certainly be blinded and maybe worse! The pellet shoots out with considerable force. I use a .22 caliber pistol cleaning kit to clean the bore of the handle. On the first cleaning, I got a good bit of machining debris from the bore that was causing the pellet to stick. Once cleaned and oiled, the machine works fine. I clean the bore before each use with the .22 cleaning kit and use a couple drops of quality oil and have no problems. Also, with prolonged use the head may unscrew resulting in loss of effective impulse. I put a piece of blue painter's paint around the barrel to keep the head from unscrewing. I'm 74 and sildenafil has become less effective for me so I bought this to combat ED. Google searches reveal GainsWave ads that say DYI ED treatments don't work. Don't believe it! After the first treatment I noticed an improvement. Now after two months, two or three treatments per week, I've reached the point of diminishing returns where I no longer notice any significant improvement so I'm doing monthly "maintenance" treatments. For ED treatments, you'll have to learn a little biology of your relevant body part. Research Low Intensity Shockwave Therapy ED and Corpora Cavernosa. The better you understand the anatomy, the greater your likelihood of success in treating for ED. Have reasonable expectations. You're not going to be 20 again! The improvement is incremental, maybe 20% improvement or so. If you think you're going to get back to your youth, you'll be disappointed, but in my case the improvement has been worth the cost and time invested. I was immediately aware of changes after only the first or second treatments. Now after two months of two or three treatments per week, I can't tell much change so I'm droppng back to a "maintenance schedule" of one treatment per month. Literature calls for 1500 to 3000 impulses per treatment. I do up to 7500 strokes at 6.5 or 7.5 Bar using the smallest (#1) head. I don't use lidocaine. There may be some discomfort but not severe. If your member is a little red after treatment, you're getting results. Good luck. I'm happy with my results. ... show more

This is an edited review. this machine is magnificent! It helps me greatly with clients. The issues I had was that while the machine was still perfect, the handle and heads are getting worn out after 7 months. I was frustrated because I didn't want to buy a new machine every 7 months. So the company actually contacted ME, and immediately within a day or two made the parts available on Amazon. THAT is a blessing indeed! I don't mind replacing parts every 7 months, because it is normal for these things to wear out. This company is a pleasure to deal with, and this machine is worth every single penny. As long as they keep making parts available, I will keep buying it and keep using it. I couldn't be happier. this machine will change your life, as it has mine. ... show more

I am using this unit in a medical facility without any problems at all. The unit looks professionally made with quality materials. Save thousands of dollars vs the price of one from a large company. The unit is rather loud so I suggest using it in a room in which you can close the door for sound control. Patients seem to feel improvement with every treatment.     • Disappointed purchase
To be honest I feel disappointed about this purchase. The product is expensive, and I decided to buy one because I got tennis elbow. I did a lot of research about the shockwaves treatment, confirmed it works for tennis elbow. Also, most of users' feedback are positive. After two weeks using it, my tennis elbow hasn't improved at all. I don’t trust this brand anymore and I don't think it is worth the price. I felt the energy was not consistent. At the beginning, I felt shockwaves energy and after a while, the energy turned small. I felt the energy was not on the same level even though measure on the screen didn't change. I don't know what's the reason but I don't feel right. Also, when the machine works it has a very noisy voice and unpredictable. All of sudden， the noise turns up. It makes me panic. ... show more

I am 70 years old and I am doing construction work. I had pains in parts of my body that never came back. And when new ones appear, a fee sessions take care of those. Expensive, but worth it.
