Got this for my mom and it works perfectly fine with VLC media player for DVDs. It’s much sturdier feeling than the one I have, so it seems well-made. It came with 2 USB cables, but I found that it works fine with just the media cable (that looks like a printer cable). Haven’t needed to use the power cable yet, so maybe it’s not necessary, or maybe it just needs to be charged now and again. Either way, it confuses me that other reviews say that it needs 2 ports in order to work. It works just fine with one. If my mom has no problems with it in the coming weeks I might buy another for myself. ... show more

I received it in one day so can’t complain about that. I did have to use a safety pin to open it because I guess it was stuck or something but it ended up working fine. It is a bit loud though.

It arrived today. I plugged it in. It took two usb ports to make it worked. I popped in the dvd of partrician IV. It seemed to read the data. But installing the game seemed to be slow for some reason. I have not tried it with movies yet. I may need a separate power supply to run the player? I hat to say it but I did find something wrong with windows. Closing the search bar closed the installation of a program from the cd rom. So becareful when using windows 10 or 11 for this bug. ... show more

FYI It worked okay but it had problems with the CD drawer latch hanging up, which finally broke completely. Based on other reviews I'm not seeing this is a common problem, I likely just got a defective unit. For the price it might be worth taking a chance, I just bought a different player because I didn't want to risk it. ... show more
