This external CD/DVD drive is a great solution for laptops and desktops that no longer include a built-in optical drive. I picked up this external CD and DVD drive because I still have a large collection of family photos, software discs, and backup DVDs that I occasionally need to access. My newer laptop doesnt have a built in optical drive, so I wanted something portable that would work without a lot of setup. I wasnt sure how well it would perform across different devices, but it has been a pleasant surprise. Setup was about as simple as it gets. I connected it using the included USB connection, my computer recognized it almost immediately, and I was reading discs within minutes. I also tested writing files to a blank DVD and everything completed without any issues. My spouse even used it to look through some old family photo CDs that had been sitting in a drawer for years. The drive operates quietly and reads discs consistently. It has handled both CDs and DVDs without any trouble, and I appreciate having both USB and USB C compatibility since I use more than one computer around the house. The compact design makes it easy to slide into my laptop bag when I travel or need it for work. The build quality feels solid despite being lightweight, and the attached cable stores neatly so there is nothing extra to keep track of. It has become one of those accessories I dont use every day, but Im always glad to have when I need it. For anyone whose computer no longer includes an optical drive, this is a convenient and dependable solution. It is easy to set up, works reliably, and makes accessing older discs simple again. I currently highly recommend this product. However, should issues arise I will update my review accordingly.

I needed a way to use CDs and DVDs with a newer laptop that doesn’t have a disc drive, and this worked perfectly. It connected right away through USB-C and I didn’t have to install anything complicated. I’ve used it to read a couple of older discs and transfer files, and everything has been smooth so far. I also like that it has several extra ports built in, so it’s more useful than having a basic external disc drive sitting around. It’s lightweight, easy to store, and does exactly what I bought it for. Very happy I found this instead of replacing some of my older discs or files.
