What a neat design! It came with a bag and the usb and usb c cord is already attached to the dvd drive. So all you have to do is plug it in the computer or laptop and start opening files. I finally used this drive and what a pleasure it is. It's easy to hook up, easy to load a disc and easy to play or rip the disc to my laptop. It played the disc immediately and ripped an entire disc in well less than five minutes. It's so well done, from having a niche to keep its hook-up cord in and a little cloth sack to keep everything together when not in use. Excellent item.

So far it works well to download files but seems slow and stops if you try to download a whole DVD. If you download a only a few folders at a time, it is very fast. I have not yet tried to burn any CDs or DVDs, but I'm hopeful. A longer cable to connect the drive to the desktop would be useful. Having cable storage is nice for transportation with my laptop .

This arrived very carefully packaged, and I was impressed right away by the presentation — the DVD burner itself came in a soft velvet bag, and everything listed was included. The device feels solid and well-built, not flimsy like some other external drives I’ve tried. The DVD player works as expected, and I appreciate how sleek and compact it is. It’s funny how we don’t think about needing something like this — until suddenly we do. And yes, CDs and DVDs are still relevant, especially for folks like me who edit videos and want a reliable way to burn them to disc. Glad to have this on standby. It does exactly what I hoped it would, and it’s one of those tools that’s great to have around even if you don’t use it daily.

I do not recommend purchasing from this company I caution. I purchased this machine to burn a cd and have an external cd DVD drive. I tried every which way to get it to work. It will not register on my Mac. I called Amazon who put me in touch with the company through email as they did not leave a Number to be reached at. From now on I am never buying again from a company that doesn’t have a number to be reached at for Customer Service right off the bat. And I don’t think that Amazon should be dealing with companies like this it’s a pain in the neck and it doesn’t work so not a good look for Amazon either. The company themselves through the email scheduled a time and date to meet with me of their choosing. Apple said they would call me afterwards to check How it went. They did not so far as I can tell. I did get a letter from the company making suggestions as to how I could make it work. But in the letter they also said, if you need any other help please contact us, as if they had never made the appointment with me. I wrote back saying I hope you will keep your appointment with me as I will try these things but I imagine I will need the help. I tried what they suggested and sure enough it did not help. One of the plugs is just for Power. The other plug is the one to plug into my computer directly. The machine does not turn on without the power plug being plugged in. However their recommendation was that I plug in the cord to the computer first as the computer would not register the CD DVD player unless I did that first. It seemed counterintuitive since there is not enough power for the machine to turn on … why would it be able to register on my computer if it’s not even on. Nonetheless I tried it that way and it still did not work even when I plugged the cord from the external cd DVD drive into my computer first and then plugged the power cord into the wall. It just would not register onto my computer. Which of course makes sense since it didn’t even turn on that way. The only way it turns on it with the power cord which does nothing but turn on the power. It will not suffice even if I connect the other cord once the power is on, To my computer. My computer just simply does not recognize this machine. Do not buy to use on a Mac at least as it will not work.

I bought a new computer when my old one finally died. My son is a computer science major in college and could not get it started again without a new hard drive. I decided to invest in a more modern computer and found - to my surprise - that most new computers do not come with a built-in CD / DVD drive! Why not, I don't know, but that is what happened. I was OK with that because I figured I would not need a CD or DVD drive. But I was wrong. My wife comes at me with a CD and asks if I could please copy it. OOOPS! I had to confess my new computer lacked that functionality. I also thought I would like to watch a DVD movie I had on the shelf but quelled that desire since I did not have that capability anymore. I thought I would like to buy a cheap drive but my second computer - a portable - did not have enough USB ports to handle everything I needed to use on it. So, I found this cute little unit that had a bunch of peripheral attachments! After buying it, it was easy to hook up, and works perfectly! I can attach peripheral units to this DVD drive and have extra ports to use. And, most importantly, I was able to copy my wife's CD for her - 'nuff said!
