  • the gloves that come with it are useful and nice (although the thumbs are open
My wife and I wanted to get a bag to hang in the garage to work out on. This bag was slightly shorter than I expected, but that's a non-issue - it's a starter bag, and it's plenty big enough for the average person starting off. The materials are constructed well, the gloves that come with it are useful and nice (although the thumbs are open, which is weird to me). I HIGHLY recommend picking up the "Everlast Double End Heavy Bag Anchor" to go along with this to keep the bag secure. Without it it's a bit hard to get a decent rhythm going on the bag. Plus by not stabilizing the bag you could place extra strain on your wrist by striking the bag as it swings back, increasing the impact. It just doesn't seem ideal. (I'm not a trainer or anything remotely close to knowledgeable on the subject - for all I know there's a perfectly valid reason to allow the bag to swing around all loosey goosey, it just seems like a bad idea, and in my limited experience with boxing/martial arts, I've always used either an anchored bag, had a spotter to hold the bag, or used a bag so heavy I couldn't Captain America punch it to make it move.) To hang it I bought a D ring bracket and mounted it to a stud in the ceiling of the attic with some really long decking screws, but the screws are already starting to work themselves a little loose due to all the stress being placed on it, so I'm going to try and find a way to modify the mount. I do recommend you plan through where and how you'll mount the bag beforehand so that you don't find an excuse to put off setting it up and using it. It did take 2 people to hang the bag - one to hold it, and one to attach it. I probably should have had a 3rd person helping me hold it, but apparently I enjoy back aches and stubbornness. Once you get it setup, if you're not familiar with using a punching bag, you might be surprised at how intense of a workout it can be. 15-30 minutes of consistent, rhythmic punching, keeping your core tight, along with plenty of hip and leg movements (don't statue up and just stand there; dance around the bag a little) will conjure up a sweat pretty quick; you'll be sore faster than you expected to be. Just be sure you're making a solid connection with the bag, and you aren't hitting it at an angle that twists or snaps your wrists - a wrist sprain will end the fun pretty quickly. OH and DON'T use the bag bare knuckled or with just the wraps on - USE GLOVES. The first day I set it up I just had wraps on and was lightly hitting the bag (not full-on workout, just goofing around) and managed to take the skin off my knuckles on both hands without realizing it, which made actually wearing the gloves and using the bag much less comfortable later on. (I did look like I got into a fist fight, though, and just kept saying "you should see the other guy" when people asked what happened...) ... show more

  • Great Bag
Great weight and holding up to the punishment

  • Serves its purpose
Pros: Looks good Seems to be built pretty sturdy (sturdy as far as Everlast goes). C3 foam appears to help protect the bottom of the bag from kicks and knee shots. As a Prime member I was able to have it overnighted for $4 which none of the other bags offered that shipping. Cons: It's not 100lbs (but not really that big of a deal) After just a couple hours of use the stitching in the straps began to fray. The C3 only covers the bottom The chain/hanging assembly that comes with it looks pretty flimsy. It measures around 17 inches from tip to tip and includes a carabiner>chain>carabiner>swivel hook>carabiner. I almost bought the Everlast Heavy Bag Hanger but after seeing all the bad reviews I went to lowes and made my own (look above for pictures). I'm sure this would work fine but I'd rather trust something a bit more beefy. Also as a side note, if you plan on installing this onto your ceiling, you really should get yourself a Revgear 150lb Heavy Bag Spring and save yourself problems down the road. All in all, if you're looking for a little recreational fun with a heavy bag, I'd recommend grabbing this. It's by no means "Gym Quality" but it should hold up to home use. ... show more

  • Good bag, but I broke the straps at the top.
So, I purchased this back in April. I trained/competed in various martial arts and boxed for a number of years. So I loved the handles for clinch work, and extra padding on the bottom portion for turning your hips over when throwing leg kick. Very rarely did I feel my shin make contact with a sand bag, and while that's kind of a rite of passage and can help toughen up your shins, I'm now in my mid 30's and am just working out to stay in shape. My fighting days are well behind me. This bag was wonderful for months, then I was sick for a bit, and didn't work out. Upon resuming my workout regimen, I only got about 1 minute into the second round before one of the red nylon straps on the top, that are stitched to the bag, ripped off. As the bag hung there, swaying about, I decided to see how many body kicks it would take to snap the rest of the straps. The answer; 6. So in short, this is a great bag for working out. But if you're a large man who can really put some serious force into your blows....it might not hold up after a few months of regular use. Also, I had the extra 40lbs of water from the everlast stabilizing bag that attaches at the bottom. Added in with the fact that I'm 6'1" 220lbs and would regularly grab the handles and wind up with Muay Thai knees to the body and head...that probably played a rather large part as well. Good bag. I'll buy it again, but this time won't practice quite so many knees from the clinch. ... show more

  • Added protection and handles combined with price make this one of the best bag I’ve bought so far
Great bag for its price range! The handles to practice knees and clinch work are very well sown on. Also the red pad on the bottom for kicks is a nice added bonus compared to your regular leather heavy bag. Only down side is the weight is so well distributed that you must get the water bag anchor or else it will swing all over the place. Overall though, I am absolutely in love with this bag. P.S. probably the first bag that doesn’t half break ya leg when you kick it hard lol ... show more

  • Trash product. Nothing more than trash
Can you see the punching bag location? Now, can you see where the straps that hold it hanging are? Do not buy this product, the quality is so poor and please avoid buying anything from this seller because doesn't make responsable for defective and poor quality of his products.

  • As a beginner, working out very well for me
I have really enjoyed this bag. It is my first heavy bag, I installed in in the basement on an I-beam and used the Everlast sand bag below it to help with swinging. I have found it durable and enjoyable to use. I like the padded parts for kicks, though I mostly use it for punching. Overall, would definitely recommend it. ... show more
