  • So Far, So Good! So Far, So Good!
Style: Steel Rope Size: 4,500 lbs.
I had some issues installing this winch but they were due to the vehicle, not the winch. I installed this Warn VRX 45 winch on a 2023 Kawasaki Mule Trans 4010. It fit behind the front bumper with room to spare. The winch is nicely finished and seems to be very well built. The supplied accessories and hardware are all top quality. The wires were more than long enough to be routed in a way that kept them from being seen and/or damaged. The installation instructions were clear and easy to read and understand. I didn't mount the dash-mounted rocker switch but I did install the wired remote plug in the dash. It's really tight under the Mule dash and contorting myself to get under there was a real issue. But I was finally able to find the ignition wire for a proper electrical connection. Once everything was installed I checked the function on the winch and remote. Worked just like it should. I like the easy turn dial on the winch that allows the cable to be pulled out to length. Another simple turn and you're ready to winch. The remote wire is long enough to easily control the winch from the front of the vehicle and remain a safe distance a way in case of cable failure. If I had a complaint it would be that this winch isn't going to win any speed contests. Winching under load is slow. Really slow. But, I knew that going in and it's about what I expected so I'm not gonna mark it down for that. Aside from that this winch performs quite well. It easily pulled the Mule out of a stream bed on my property that's very steep and about 40' long. It never reached it's duty cycle shutoff while doing that. Hardly a torture test but it is a real life test that's probably representative of the type of use this winch will generally see. I'm very happy with this Warn winch. ... show more

  • Tough Winch
Style: Steel Rope Size: 3,500 lbs.
This winch was really made to pull out ATVs out of the mud hole. I decided to use it to pull up 32 shrubs and I must say, its a workhorse. I used a double snatch block to pull up some deeply rooted Shrubs and it performed very well. I have this installed on to a CanAm 570 and connected the back of the CanAm to a tree with stout rope as an anchor - I was amazed by the strength of this thing. Of course I have pulled out an ATV more then once from a deep mudhole as well. WARN is the way to go if you seriously want the quality! ... show more

  • The best you can get
Style: Steel Rope Size: 4,500 lbs.
Its a warn its the best you can get, easy install no need for a mounting plate on my machine as the holes were set for that winch. Generous amount of cables, good instructions for the most part, haven't needed it yet but that one day i will need it, i know it will work.

  • Very nice winch for UTV use.
Style: Steel Rope Size: 4,500 lbs.
I've mostly used it for snowplow use, but it has been flawless in performance. Very easy to engage/disengage the clutch. Mine is installed on a John Deere XUV 835M. The factory winch harness is a very nice upgrade over the cables included with the winch, fwiw. Update January 2025. I've been using this for 6 years now. It still runs like new. Plowed the latest snowstorm and then pulled my wife's car out of a snowy ditch on the side of our road. Flawless performance. I have the wire cable version and it now has a few kinks and the odd broken wire, but I think that's to be expected. Would definitely buy again ... show more

  • Some Fitment Issues -- Good Customer Service
Style: Steel Rope Size: 2,500 lbs.
Had multiple install issues, but Warn customer service was quite responsive. 1) Fairlead mounting plate. Purchased the specific Warn mounting hardware for my ATV. Base plate went in perfectly. Mounted fairlead to fairlead mount (included with base plate) and then attempted to mount winch and fairlead mount to base plate. Nope. The mounting bolts for the fairlead caused the mount holds to be 1/4" off. Maybe this was designed for something other than this particular winch. In any event, I had to take an hour to re-drill the fairlead mount plate. Customer service told me that Warn is moving more to single-mounting plates, but this might be an issue with the handful of ATVs that require separate fairlead plates. 2) Winch mounting bolts. Way too short. First one I torqued down stripped out the 1/4-3/8" of the mounting hole where it had contact. Fortunately, enough thread left for a longer bolt, which I then had to run to the hardware store and buy. The explanation here, again, was the double plate mounting system. For a single plate, the bolt would have been fine. So, if you're mounting with a double plate, do yourself a favor and measure through the lock washer, mounting plates, and into the winch to see how long your bolt actually *should* be, and go buy one. Make sure you get the hardened stainless bolt that matches the included ones, except for length. 3) Wiring. Too short! And too long! As another commenter observed, the winch wiring that goes from winch to contactor -- yellow and blue -- plays out a foot shy of any possible mounting location even with, or aft of, the battery compartment. (And mine is a medium size ATV, not a monster-ATV.) So, customer service was extremely helpful here. They asked the measurement I needed and offered a set of blue/yellows just a slight bit longer, shipped no charge. Bottom line: Still hoping this winch will be exceptionally good, given the trouble I've had so far. I will say Warn customer service was top-notch! The explanations were explanations, not excuses, and they did what was needed to fix the problem. Once connected up, I will adjust the rating based on how everything works. Post-install update: Warn's promised cables arrived, just the right length, and installed fine. I bought a heavy duty wire cutter and crimper set, and set of end caps, and custom cut my over-long wires to fit perfectly. Then my son helped me unwind/wind the cable correctly. Winch is extremely quiet, and everything worked correctly. ... show more

  • Good quailty! Good quailty!
Style: Steel Rope Size: 2,500 lbs.
I installed this winch myself and saved quite a bit of money. It was pretty straight forward. I looked at other winches in all price ranges and this winch is much better quality.

  • Totally worth it Totally worth it
Style: Steel Rope Size: 3,500 lbs.
Make sure this winch is securely mounted. If there are any loose or questionable bolts on your ATV mounting replace them, it will require secured fasteners. Winch is larger than I expected for this 4 x 4 ATV but is required for successful and safe wood lot management duties. I recommend multiple snatch blocks to reduce stresses on both winch and ATV when dislodging widow makers. Winch is extremely powerful do not underestimate it’s ability. For trouble free operation before using the winch at it’s full capacity manually pull winch cable out until the last row of cable is visible on spool. Attach winch hook to tree or tow vehicle ball. Electrically operate winch allowing winch to pull ATV towards anchor point as you guide cable appropriately back on to its spool. This process will eliminate ay gaps or spacing that will cause cable lockup’s on itself. Quad came with a Badland model which split open like an egg on its third use. I’m extremely impressed and pleased with the functionality of this Warn 3500 winch and so will you. Warn should include stickers… we like stickers. ... show more
