This replaced a previous thermometer that just stopped working. I was looking for something inexpensive that took AAA batteries. Most of these items on Amazon look fairly similar - do they all come out of the same factory in China? - so I went with the low priced item. So far, so good. It is easy to operate and read. The only negative is that it does not come with a storage pouch. That was not a big deal for me as I am using the same pouch that came with my previous unit that stopped working.

I thought it was nice they include batteries. works well for small batch candles and is a nice placeholder until I can get a more accurate thermometer. that being said, this one seems to be fairly accurate - maybe off by two or three degrees. would order again!

The user manual is totally incomprehensible, so you'll never know what the extra buttons on this thing are for. Who cares? Just point and shoot! You can instantly learn the surface temperature of anything: a pan on the stove, the oil or sauce in the pan, the inside wall of your oven or fridge — plus the inside or outside wall of your house and the air coming out of your HVAC ducts. Fun and useful.

We bought this thermometer to ensure that our pizza stone is hot enough when we throw the pie on it. Why bake a pizza on an insufficiently warmed-up stone - c'mon! The thermometer's range is more than wide enough, so I'm optimistic. I'll add to this review when I've confirmed that it works well.
