Followed the setup directions of letting the unit sit upright unplugged for 24 hrs. to let the refrigerant settle. Then followed through with the rest of the setup by viewing their excellent Youtube video.(They provide a QR code.) Setup was EASY. First nuggets of ice appeared and before I knew it the tray was completely filled. Have settled into a daily routine of filling up the unit’s water tray in the morning, then keeping the water tray 2/3rds full during the day. This keeps the ice cold and flowing until I’m ready to turn in. Because of this unit and my delight in its endless ice, have doubled my daily water intake. Love this unit!

It makes ice, it is easy to clean with the built in self cleaning function, it has run for over 9 months 24/7 and not faltered once. I'm not going to bother going into details on how great it is at making ice, it makes ice and does it well, as expected. Noisier than my fridge, but still very quiet. I'll just add that for the self cleaning you may want some more details, so here you go: Move the machine so the front is hanging over your sink and pull the drain plug out to let all the water out, empty the ice bucket, remove the ice bucket, scoop, and small filter at the bottom of the tank (left side.) Reinstall the drain plug, add half a cup bleach to the tank, fill the tank the rest of the way with HOT water till it can't hold any more (yes, that means going above the max fill line all the way to the top of the tank) then hold the power button for five seconds till the Add Water light starts flashing. This is the self cleaning cycle, let it run for half an hour. Come back and pull the drain plug out, let all the nastyness drain out into your sink, replace the drain plug, refill to the top with clean HOT water, run the cleaning cycle one more time. After half an hour drain the machine, reinstall the filter and ice basket (that should have been cleaned by hand/with dishwasher) and refill with water to the max line. That is how you do a true deep clean of most countertop ice makers that all look very similar on Amazon (because they're all rebranded versions of the same thing.) To answer what will probably be the most common question; no, my ice does not smell or taste like bleach. I live in a house of five people and none have any complaints. I do this cleaning every three months.

Finally, sonic ice at home. We used to buy bags of sonic ice, even before my refrigerator ice maker broke. And especially afterwards. That got to be a little bit cumbersome. Right when this euhomy ice comes out of the machine, you might say it’s harder than sonic ice. However as soon as you pour a drink into it, it naturally melts down just a smidge and at that point it’s the same, minus a hair of chew factor. I did a blind taste, crunch, chew test with my husband. Sonic ice in one and euhomy ice in another. He is a major ice aficionado, and he got it wrong!!!! In my picture this is one full basket of ice in a one gallon Ziploc. I lay them flat so they will stack nicely in the freezer and prep ice for the week. As needed, I take one or two bags out of the freezer, smack it with a rubber mallet and put it in my old ice dispenser, so it dispenses out of the fridge door. I eat ice all day and night. FYI this machine isn’t insulated to store the ice. Once it’s made you need to use it move your freezer. It’s my first anncillary ice maker so I have nothing to compare to but it makes ice slowly. In 9 hours I’m on my 4th basket of ice. I just set it and walk away then come back a few hours later to put in the freezer. So be prepared for that. A couple more things that are not in the instructions but gtk: when you’re done making ice, and have drained the drain plug on bottom, remove all removable parts: basket, reservoir. Hand Dry them and set aside overnight. Then hand dry the inside as much as you can reach. Overnight, keep the door open as well as the door to reservoir 2. This is important to avoid mold or mineral build up — even though it has a “self cleaner” (which only streams water through the unit) Yes there is a reservoir 2, accessible from a hatch on top. It’s not required to fill up but may help you from having to stop and fill up the water so often. I’ve seen people post picks of mildew but you have to use common sense and hand dry and air out. Mineral deposits are inevitable on any water driven appliance unless you have a water softener. A water filter does not catch most minerals. A softener does. Neither are required but just a gtk. And finally, like a proper dingusdongus I made an instructional sticker and stuck in on the front. A week later I peeled it off and it left residue. So I busted out the goof off which goofed off some of the plastic. It was left looking sad, so I did some custom work with chalkboard markers. You’re welcome 🤦♀️ I’m really happy with it. And would recommend. It’s kinda fun. I made it sound like work but it’s no more work than any small appliance. Clean it, keep it dry, store properly.
