  • Wish the app had more nuanced features
It delivers as promised and makes me feel safer. However, I wish the alarm would go off when the AI detects a human rather than just random “motion.” I don’t need the alarm to go off when a trash truck is picking up garbage. I would like the alarm to go off when there’s someone up to no good. I have a rowhouse in a major city near the metro. My car was stolen from my back patio/yard and the occasional druggie shoots up in my alley. This floodlight/camera/alarm makes me feel a bit safer. ... show more

  • Works with occasional hiccups
Installed where another porch light previously lived; however, this is meant as a wall-mount and the previous was a ceiling mount. Needed a few parts to modify and mount. Good enough picture (Eufy needs to get moving on 4k video, especially where power isn't an issue). Have had to restart twice in two weeks after camera would not show live video (remote restart worked both times). Have probably 40 other Eufy cameras of all sorts deployed and this is the first that needed "special attention." Limited detection off-axis (narrow field of motion detection compared to field of viewing) - this is pretty common with a lot of offerings out there, including Eufy. ... show more

  • Excellent potential, but fatal flaws
I’ve purchased many Anker products and have grown to trust the quality and reliability of their brands. When I was in the market for a floodlight security camera, I was immediately drawn to the Eufy Floodlight Cam 2K. I purchased it to supplement or replace an Arlo Pro 2 camera. Some of the GOOD and BAD about the Eufy camera can be found below. I really wanted this camera to work for me, but the BAD means I will likely be returning this camera to Amazon for a refund. PROS: 1. Anker’s usual quality in materials is evidenced by Eufy cam’s sturdy construction. 2. It’s easy to install if you’re comfortable with wiring a light fixture. I removed an existing patio light and replaced it using the provided parts. 3. Using a wired connection means no battery charging! 4. The Eufy app is nicely designed and easy to use. I like it better and it’s more reliable than my Arlo camera’s app. 5. The Eufy camera does not have a motion “exclusion” zone, but two separate customizable “activity zones” can accomplish the same thing. 6. Using the app, it’s easy to define irregular 6-sided activity zones – if only they would work at night. 7. I want to track deer and foxes in my backyard, but the built-in “human detection” should be useful if you don’t want to track animals. 8. I specifically purchased a Eufy camera because you get full functionality without a subscription! Great! (To the best of my knowledge, Arlo no longer offers cameras with that option.) CONS: 1. The floodlights and camera are triggered separately by two independent motion detectors! In my opinion, this is a fatal flaw. 2. The motion detector for the floodlights does NOT use the activity zones defined for the camera. That means your floodlights may come on throughout the night (to the detriment of your neighbors) regardless of the area you want to monitor. Furthermore, motion detected by the camera does not trigger the floodlights. 3. Since the camera’s motion detector sensitivity is completely separate from the floodlights motion detector setting, trying to find the optimal setting for both (in order to avoid false alerts and trigger real ones) is exasperating. 4. I received numerous false alarms nightly from cars, even though motion detection was set to “low” and my camera and activity zones are both over 80 feet from the street that is on one side of my backyard. It seems that the floodlights themselves trigger my camera since there is no motion in my activity zones. 5. One evening my old Arlo camera picked up a fox crossing directly in my Eufy camera’s activity zone, but the Eufy camera did not get triggered even though it was set for “all motion” and “high sensitivity”. 6. Although the Eufy app is nicely designed, I don’t have confidence in app upgrades. For example, the iOS update to version 3.3.2 eliminated the “motion distance for lights” setting. While Eufy support stated that my observation had been forwarded to the product and app teams for investigation, no update has been issued. This makes me wonder if Eufy is attempting to address customer complaints and confusion over separate settings for the two motion detectors by combining the settings to imply that there is only one motion detector. With separate motion detectors, separate settings are important. 7. Arlo’s app has superior customization settings when compared to Eufy’s, but neither provides a way to schedule different sensitivity settings by time of day. Such an update would be a big plus! 8. Similar to Arlo’s app, use of the Eufy app is often interrupted by a “special sales offer.” I can handle receiving spam emails to my accounts, but interrupting access to a “security” app for sales promotions is very disappointing. 9. Since customer support’s “online chat” didn’t work for me, and there is usually a one-day delay with email responses, my 30-day product-return window is closing quickly. It has taken 15 days of dialog via 10 messages to seek understanding and try to get the camera to function as I expect.9. Customer support reps often do not take the time to fully read (or understand) your messages before sending their reply. As a result, many responses I’ve received from Eufy are incomplete or not as helpful as I had hoped or expected. (Perhaps it’s a language barrier or perhaps they are stretched too thin with many requests for help.) 10. Customer support reps often do not take the time to fully read (or understand) your messages before sending their reply. As a result, many responses I’ve received from Eufy are incomplete or not as helpful as I had hoped or expected. (Perhaps it’s a language barrier or perhaps they are stretched too thin with many requests for help.) I didn’t try telephone support, but next time I will. 11. The Eufy camera’s detection behavior is very sporadic compared to my old Arlo Pro 2. It’s a shame that 4-year old technology is superior to Eufy’s latest with regard to basic motion detection. The Eufy Floodlight Cam 2K has great potential, but there are fatal flaws with motion detection. Eufy support eventually suggested that I might have a defective product and offered to send a replacement. Last night, I had 20 false alarms, so I am planning to return it to Amazon as defective or accept Eufy’s replacement. ... show more

  • Security Improvement to Garage and Surrounding Area
This product is serving its intended purpose of offering security improvements to the garage area of my property. The installation was straight forward and relatively easy. The total installation took approximately 15 - 20 minutes. Prior to initiating the install, an installation video found on YouTube was particularly helpful. Initially, I was encouraged that everything appeared to be going well. Unfortunately, I would soon learn that the first floodlight camera was intermittently disabling my entire Wifi Network. A disappointment to say the least. The only method found to restore the Wifi network included a complete reboot of my Netgear Router. I reported all information directly to the Tech Support team at Eufy. The Tech Support team was highly responsive and made the necessary arrangements to send a new replacement floodlight cam, at no additional cost. Prior to the receipt of the replacement, Tech Support made the following request: when the new replacement floodlight cam was received at my address, kindly send back the defective floodlight via a USPS prepaid postage label. I have never worked with Eufy in the past. However, in my humble opinion, I thought it was a thoughtful good faith gesture to make the assumption that I would indeed send the original defective floodlight cam back to Eufy. It is important to mention that I have worked with electronics and IT-related products for a number of years. I do understand that from time to time everything does not always go according to plan. The replacement floodlight cam arrived within a reasonable amount of time. The seconf time around, installation also went very well. I am pleased with the durability and technical capabilities of the floodlight cam. The floodlight cam's accompanying Eufy security app was installed on my Android Phone with ease and I find the app to be intuitive and easy to administer. The night vision can be adjusted to the desired settings and the picture quality is above average. Overall, this has been a good purchase and good purchase experience with a company that appears to stand behind its products. ... show more

  • Easy to hook up
This was easy to install in place of my light on the front of garage and on back patio. I would recommend this to anyone. Good price and quality product. You can adjust where you want the motion detector to sense and not have the spotlight come on all night long when a car or someone on the sidewalk goes by. ... show more
